Black Panther’s Dora Milaje are teaming up with Spidey for their own comic

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

If you're one of the many BLACK PANTHER fans who just couldn't get enough of the Dora Milaje, Wakada's own warrior tribe comprised entirely of badass female protectors, you'll be thrilled to hear that Marvel Comics is gearing up to feature them in their very own comic book!

Entitled Wakanda Forever: The Amazing Spider-Man, the upcoming series will be written by author Nnedi Okorafor (Binti, Who Fears Death) and illustrated by Alberto Jiménez Alburquerque (Letter 44, Mystery Girl, Jean Grey). Orchestrated as a three-part miniseries, the story will feature three members of Wakanda's elite fighting force –  Okoye, Ayo and Aneka – to New York City where they will investigate a threat to Wakanda's national security. Along their journey, the three women cross paths with Peter Parker's Spider-Man, who then becomes a member of the lethal Wakandan hunting party.

“Typically when you see them, they’re with T’Challa, representing and protecting him,” Okorafor told Vogue. “Now you’re going to see the Dora Miljae for the first time as an independent entity; they’re not under the shadow of the throne.” Should the miniseries prove to be a money-maker for Marvel's publishing arm, there's a chance that we could see the Dora Milaje star in their own solo series, further down the line.

While you're waiting for Wakanda Forever: The Amazing Spider-Man to hit the stands, why not check out Okorafor's digital-first Black Panther-related comic, Black Panther: Long Live the King, which is available to read wherever comics are sold online.
