Broncos gets cast

We first told you about GENTLEMEN BRONCOS, the next film from NAPOLEON DYNAMITE and NACHO LIBRE director Jared Hess. Today we bring you news that BRONCOS has its cast. Michael Angarano (young William in ALMOST FAMOUS), Sam Rockwell and Jemaine Clement (“Flight of the Conchords”) have signed on to star in the Fox Searchlight comedy. The film follows a teen (Angarano) who’s an aspiring fantasy writer. When he attends a writing camp, he finds his material stolen by a washed-up and desperate novelist named Ronald Chevalier (Clement). Rockwell will star as the title character of the novel that will be seen in sequences acting out both the teen and the author’s version of the story. Hess wrote the script with his wife Jerusha. Mike White, who wrote NACHO for Hess, will produce the film for Searchilght. Not sure I get the casting of Clement (who has always turned me off since those annoying Outback Steakhouse commercials) but I love the idea of Rockwell playing a character from a teenager’s fantasy novel. That’s comedy gold. Filming on the comedy is expected to begin this March in Utah.
