Bruce Willis says Expendables 2 will be this year, and he'll be in it

01.17.2011

As there were a lot of celebrities in attendance at last night's Golden Globes, it's no surprise we're hearing a few new bits of news from the loose-lipped on the red carpet.

This time it's Bruce Willis doing that talking, who managed to give up a few details about the state of THE EXPENDABLES 2 and his potential role in it.

"Apparently it's going to happen this year," he said.

"As far as I know, barring any unforeseen circumstances, but yeah, I would love to be a part of it," he said.

Keep in mind, this is the same guy who says DIE HARD 5 has been right around the corner for the last few years, so take this with a grain of salt. But I would imagine it doesn't take a terribly large amount of time to script something that relies on its cast and bodycount to bring in audiences. With the first film a success, Stallone should have no trouble convincing people to return, and new folks (JCVD!) to show up.

Not sure if "this year" means that's when it shoots, or when it's released, but I frankly wouldn't be surprised if it's both.

Extra Tidbit: Get Arnold back too! And make him actually kill people.

I hope they get rid of that cinematographer they used for the original. That shaky cam crap ruined it for me.

I think...

People actually need to die in these movies. This plot is just asking for a scenario where everyone dies except one, probably Stallone (preferably Arnold)

Stallone's face! If ever they need to cast Clayface in another Batman film please look no further Hollywood.

Damn that's like almost Mickey Rourke bad.

I just found it sad that the 3 minute fight between Ramona Flowers and Roxie Richter in Scott Pilgrim vs the World was far more exiting and entertaining than the whole of The Expendibles. While I'm not exited for a sequel, I'm not quite against it either. All Sly needs to do is put more hard hitting action in the next chapter and the people who were dissapointed from the first film might be won back.

First one was terrible. Nothing new, the action was boring. Best part was the last 30 mins. And UFC fighters do not count as action heros sorry. So put in better action this time, and get rid of those UFC fighters get chuck norris, JCVD, clive owen, and we should be in buss.

Wow

I thought Li, Lundgren, Stallone, Austin, Roberts and Statham had pretty good roles. Crews and Couture were just comic relief and that's fine. I can understand why Stallone changed his mind about Danny Trejo being in the movie because he would have had a lot of lines of dialogue and it would have been hard to understand him, but David Zayas was also weak in that role. I think Van Damme might have been right to pass on the role of the henchman that Li kills. Overall I thought it was a

Much better than, say, "Rambo: First Blood Part II" or Rambo III. I didn't see the last Rambo movie. I considered going with a friend but the wives didn't want to go so that was that.

Haters is such a corny word. I'm not saying there aren't a few people who may hate on the movie unnecessarily, but generally I think people were genuinely disappointed with the film. I love action films and I had high hopes, but I found it to be a really stupid movie. And that doesn't mean I was asking for a smart, sophisticated movie, I was looking for a fun, interesting movie with cool characters and tough villains. ...one of the worst movies of last year, and just painful to watch, an hour and a half of my life I'll never get back. Absolutely astonished it made as much as it did at the box office. But people are dumb enough to shell out $$$ for it, so I'm sure they'll eat this shit right up. Utterly trite garbage. Count me out. *rolling eyes* SMH

Movie was enjoyable

It was what it was. I really was hoping for Stallone to hit this one out of the park like he did with John Rambo but in the end it was merely just enjoyable. Like everyone said that script was pretty nonexistent and the characters were horribly underdeveloped. Terry Crews, Couture and Jet Li had like 5 lines total, combined! I hope Stallone realizes his mistake and looks to what made John Rambo such a blast-good script with real world problems, interesting characters and a real sense of danger for the heroes.

I'm all for this sequel getting made. And I totally agree that Arnold needs to snap a few necks or do SOMETHING in this film. I want to see him go all Commando again!

Have no comment on the script, but the action was rather disappointing. As mentioned before, too much quick-cutting, shakey-cam, Jet Li was sorely under-utilized, and most of all, there wasn't any sense of tension. The movie is called "The Expendables", yet everyone made it with barely a scratch. I hope Sly really takes the feedback to heart this time. Yes, and last time I checked, I have a penis and two balls, and I like women.

What did you dumasses expect? Its a genre movie and it served its purpose well. its like saying "theres too many horses and duels in this spaghetti western"

im not a fanboy, and i thought it was awesome. and to be honest, the fanboys are the ones bitching about the script being simple, cheesy effects, etc. Excuse stallone for doing something orginal in an action movie.

its not generic, its just simple. not everything needs to be complex and have multiple plot twists to be entertaining.

Sly Stallone is an Oscar winning writer (for the first Rocky movie). He's a smart writer in that he knows what will appeal to audiences, the same way Spielberg does for example. No blockbuster movie was ever complex.

Oh wow! Sly was nominated for an Oscar some thousand years ago. Is that supposed to be an argument ? Dodging the question doesnt make it an answer. Many actual Oscar-winners went on to write crappy films. Who gives a shit ? Does it change the fact that The Expandables was crap ? Nope.

And please, dont compare Stallone to Spielberg, they arent of the same caliber. One can't really act and try to keep is career alive by making bad movies like the one he made 25 years ago; and the other one is

This is a dumb debate anyways. There is no art in The Expandables, thats a fact. And judging on an entertaining level, its still very boring. Entertaing is the very least it could have been and it doesnt even get close to that. An apparently cool cast doesnt make a movie good.

Skellington, you are completely uninformed and ignorant. Sylvester Stallone has proven time and time again that he is extraordinarily talented, diverse and is completely competent as a film maker in a variety of aspects. Enough said. I have no time or tolerance for shallow, superficial people who run their mouths without the slightest amount of intelligence to back any of it up.

I actually have to agree with those below me. I watched The Expendables with pretty high expectations and was really pretty bored throughout the entire film. I found the plot pretty stupid, the dialogue incredibly cheesy and cringe-inducing, and even the action scenes paled in comparison to some of the stuff seen in other nonsensical team-action-movies like A-Team and The Losers.

I guess Willis is a step in the right direction though, though at this point I think I'd even prefer Die Hard 5 to this.

I was bored during the entire movie. I wanted it to end. Even the action scenes weren't exciting. And it looked cheap, almost straight-to-DVD cheap. I didnt expect this film to be any good, but I hoped it could be entertaining. It wasnt.
Fanboys liked it, they say it was a throwback blah blah blah. When they say that, do they realize action films werent that good in the 80's, a few films aside ?

I liked the first one and thought it was good for what it was. I mean it would have been great if Stallone made the movie a bit more serious than cheesy, but the movie was just a throwback to all the old 80's action flicks.

I like the idea of having Willis back for the villian, and having Russell and JCVD join the team this time around, and also having a kick ass female.

I do think the first is a fun movie.

The Expendables 1 was lame,

and that's coming from somebody who wanted it to be good. I want to see (a) a better script, (b) less super-closeup and fast editing on the fight scenes, (c) a better villain, (d) and how about a lady kicking ass? Get Michelle Yeoh in the house!

I think I hyped myself up too much for the first because I didn't like it. I know action flicks are suppose to be a bit cheesy, but it really took the cake. I hope Stallone makes it a bit more serious action than the camp fighting scenes the first had.
