Bryan Cranston says he wants to play Mr. Sinister in an X-Men movie

10.12.2015

Bryan Cranston Mr. Sinister Banner

It was just a few days ago that Bryan Cranston said he'd love to play a "nasty" Marvel villain created for the big screen, but over the weekend at the New York Comic-Con, the actor revealed there's also a big comic book baddie he's interested in portraying: Mr. Sinister.

After Cranston asked the crowd at NYCC what they thought of him playing the X-Men supervillain, they reportedly "preceded to go wild." He went on to say that "It intrigues me to be able to play a character that hasn’t been on film before, so you can create it from the beginning." Mr. Sinister is a pretty powerful villain in the comics, and his abilities include telepathy, shapeshifting and superhuman strength and durability.

Personally I think Cranston is a little too old for Mr. Sinister, but a lot can be done with makeup and CGI, and obviously there are some people who would love it if he was cast as the movie version of the character. Do you think the actor would make a good Mr. Sinister, or do you have a different actor in mind for the role?

Bryan Cranston's new animated series SuperMansion premiered last week on Crackle, and his Dalton Trumbo biopic TRUMBO will be in theaters on November 6, 2016.

As long as he doesn't wind up looking like a giant, walking, ribbed, purple dildo (aka Apokolips).

I really don't know anything about Mr. Sinister except what I loosely remember from the cartoon, but I would love to see Cranston be in a Marvel film as either a villain or a hero. The dude, despite his age, is such a hip guy and I love that he is genuinely interested in getting into the comic book game.

That's not that bad but he is a little too old for the role. I thought about Jason Isaacs or Joseph Fiennes might have been better. Guess we'll have to see if there's sneak at the end of Apocalypse.

We're talking about Marvel, huh? 'Cause I'd love to see him play (or at least voice and mocap) Darkseid. On a Marvel movie? Definitely Galactus (The World Eater, He Who is So Totally Not a Cloud), just as soon as the rights go back to Marvel Films.

I still think he would make for an excellent Norman Osborne/Green Goblin.

But Mr. Sinister is one of my favorite comic book villains and I just don't see Cranston in the role. I do hope that he is the next X-Men villain to be in a live action film though.

Just to see Bryan Cranston in a comic book movie will make me feel very happy, especially if he would actually play Mr. Sinister.

I think a lot of people would be happy seeing Cranston play ANYONE. What little I know of Mr. Sinister, he's not even in my Top 10 for that role, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen.

Love Cranston

But I would prefer him to play someone outside of Mr. Sinister; that role belongs to Mads Mikkelsen. I do appreciate Cranston's desire to play a character that has not been on screen yet, but there's a ton of other characters I think match his acting style.
