Updated: Bunch of new set images from J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII

06.02.2014

Update: I hope you all got a chance to take a look at the leaked set pics, because Disney and Lucasfilm have asked us to take down the images. Sorry, guys.

A ton of new STAR WARS: EPISODE VII set images have surfaced online over at TMZ, including a few of the costumes some of the extras had to wear, and stills featuring a new alien creature. We've heard a few times to expect less CGI and more practical effects in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, and based on these new set images, it appears J.J. Abrams and company are sticking with that plan for the new STAR WARS film.

Although it doesn't look like there is anything too spoilery in the new set pics, those of you who don't want to know anything about STAR WARS: EPISODE VII might want to avoid the images below.

Check them out:

Sources also told TMZ "the new alien was manned by 5 men inside it's belly, and was used in two scenes taking place in what looks like a Tatooine marketplace."

J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: EPISODE VII is set to open on December 18, 2015.

I don't think anyone will have a problem with the look or design of the film. JJ's Trek had all the looks and style - it was more the story and characters that people complain about. Star Wars will look amazing for sure (as did Trek), I am more concerned about the writing. Send us some script pages instead of set pics!

I wonder whether having the puppets and practical models and sets is more fun for the actors too.  I suspect it's far more fun than a green screen.  And if people are having fun, maybe we will get better performances from the actors.  The main actors in the prequels Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen etc.) seemed bored to me for the most part. The script wouldn't have helped of course.  I don't know much about acting at all but I suspect that if you can see what you're acting

Practical effects? Aweseome!

I like the fact that JJ Abrams is going with practical effects that actors can work against, as opposed to purely CGI. So far, I'm happy with everything I've heard from this new series.

No Gungans Please

Don"t tell me they're bringing the podracer bacK? a part of me is excited to see a race again and another part of me is thinking they're taking ideas from the episodes 1-3 which kind of scares me.

You shouldn't be scared. Not everything in the prequels was bad. Introduced new things.

the only good things the prequels gave us:
1. Darth Maul
2. the pod races
3. Jango Fett
4. Mace Windu
5. episode 3

On the fence about seeing a podracer race again...it was one of the few action sequences i liked from episode 1. it also tells me they're taking cues from episodes 1-3.

I'm really digging the architecture on the set as well as the costumes. Practical effects! Thanks the Gods.
