Bye Justin Lin! Hello three potential directors for Fast & Furious 7!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

For those who haven’t heard, Justin Lin is officially off FAST & FURIOUS 7. On Wednesday evening, the director let the studio know that he was not going to be able to helm the seventh installment of the series. The reason? Universal is in a hurry to get on the next edition to the franchise, so much so that it would cut into Lin’s post-production work on FAST SIX. The director does not want to rush both projects just to get out another product. Even for an action packed popcorn flick like any in the series, you gotta give the guy some props for not wanting to just put a movie out for the sake of doing so.

With him gone, Latino Review already found three potential directors to take Lin’s place: Jeff Wadlow (KICK-ASS 2), Brad Furman (THE LINCOLN LAWYER), and Harald Zwart (KARATE KID 2010).

Latino Review is putting their money on Wadlow since he’s just directed a flick for the same studio. KICK-ASS 2 does look like it’s going to be a good one, so perhaps he is a good choice, but without having seen the movie yet I can’t definitely give a straight answer. Then there’s Furman, who did great with THE LINCOLN LAWYER, and we have yet to see RUNNER RUNNER starring Ben Affleck so the verdict is still out of the action portion of things. Then there’s Zwart…

I guess we’ll find out some time this week or next since that’s when a decision is due to come in.
