Hip to this news for the casting of Kranz in any project, but neutral because while the Dark Tower saga started out promising, it ended up so goofy with King being a part of the story and them having to save him...

It just turned into a bit of a mess. I was also never a fan of the ending. I hate the whole cyclical ending. Even with the renewed hope that things would be different the next time. I don't want to imagine a satisfactory ending... I want to read it or watch it actually happen!

Everybody just calm down

Unlike Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter, Stephen King's saga is not easily adapted as a linear narrative. The complex story that really bridges dozens of novels needs to be envisioned in such a way to allow it to be digested by mass audiences. King himself went back and revised the first novel after adding elements to the later volumes and this may be no different. Bringing elements from the end to the beginning can help drive home the powerful ending. Stephen King has given his seal of

[SPOILER WARNING.] Yeah, they seem to be taking a lot of liberties indeed. Was hoping the first film would be based on books 1 and 2, but so far the supporting cast is based on characters from the last book. There's also a rumor that the whole dark tower story is explained in a therapy session that Jake has in the first 5 minutes of the film. That would be a lazy way to start the film and let the audience know what the story is about, instead of letting the audience discover it along the way.

They're really taking some liberties.

I don't think Pimli ever met the Man in Black, and he also didn't show up until book seven (out of seven).
