Cage Kicks Ass

08.22.2008

A couple of days ago I was vilified for admitting that Nic Cage's latest BANGKOK DANGEROUS had slipped by my radar. In no way am I excusing my apparent buffoonery, but I'm just saying I miss Cage-oriented announcements such as this. The Oscar-winner has signed on to star in the Matthew Vaughn-directed KICK-ASS, an adaptation of the violent Mark Millar comic book.

The comic book centers on high school nerd Dave Lizewski who decides to become a superhero even though he has no athletic ability or coordination. Things change when he ultimately runs into real bad guys with real weapons. Aaron Johnson will play the title character and Cage will star as a former cop who aids and probably abets our hero. If a stellar plot isn't enough to tickle your fancy, consider this: McLovin!
Extra Tidbit: The violence in this film has put off many major studios but Vaughn has raised $30 million himself.

The plot actually does sound interesting. With McLovin attached, my ticket was already bought. This news is both exciting and scary at the same time. I hope Cage remembers what a actor he can be and gets his shit straight for this project.

Whe I first heard Cage was attached I thought he would play the David's Dad, but now it just sounds dumb.

gee

I wonder if he'll be doing his really bad Elvis imitation...again.

Sorry, after the abortion that was Ghost Rider, I never want to see Cage in another comic book related property ever again. He just can't act as anything other than himself.

Which isn't a good thing.

Can't wait to see what dead animal will be stuck to Mr. Cage's bald head in this film.

Love the idea of turning this into a movie (if it's done right), but can't they wait until the whole series has been released? I just finished the 3rd issue!
