Cameron talks 3D

Apr. 11, 2008by: Omar Aviles

James Cameron James Cameron, currently in production on his science fiction epic action adventure AVATAR, took a little time out from his surely incredibly busy schedule to talk to Variety about stereoscopic aka 3D technology and how it's affected and will affect the film industry in the years to come. It's a pretty long interview but it's pretty damn interesting and he drops a couple of cool little nuggets like "I plan to shoot a small dramatic film in 3-D, just to prove this point, after "Avatar." In "Avatar," there are a number of scenes that are straight dramatic scenes, no action, no effects. They play very well, and in fact seem to be enhanced by the stereo viewing experience." Say whaa? What happened with BATTLE ANGEL, yo? He also drops this little nugget: Maybe on "Avatar 2." Read the interview HERE. AVATAR's set for release December 18th of next year.

Extra Tidbit: The IMDB has his nickname listed as "Iron Jim".

Wrong release date

AVATAR was set to come out in May, but is now set for December 18, 2009--a much better date IMO.

I wonder who he has in mind for his 3D drama?

I MISS....

.. old Jim Cameron. You know, "Get away from her, you bitch!" one. Titanic is the worst thing that happened to him (and his worst movie, besides Pirahna 2) and Avatar looks like another superspectacle like Titanic. Jim, take Arnie and make True Lies 2, for old times sake.

We haven't seen anything from Cameron in the same action packed spirit as Aliens or Terminator 2 for years. AVATAR better change all that.

Couldn't disagree more, Dark Knight

Titanic, for all its flaws, was far from his worst movie. AVATAR sounds excellent, and just what is wrong with a superspectacle. If you want the truth, a second True Lies would be the WORST thing he could do. He's earned the right to do whatever he damn well pleases.

AHM ....

... let's see: Titanic better than Terminator or Terminator 2? NOPE. Titanic better than True Lies? NOPE. Titanic better than Abyss? NOPE. Titanic better than Aliens? DEFINITELY NOPE.All that's left is Pirahna 2 (not counting documentaries and tv films) but I don't count it because Cameron said studio butchered his version of the movie. I rest my case.
