Capitalism Love poster

08.27.2009

Like most of you, I go to the cinema for a bit of an escape from the everyday ins and outs. That's why I've only seen two of Michael Moore's films.

CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY is basically about the one big ass cloud looming over us, the declining global economy. Moore will take a look at the economy between the Bush and Obama administrations.

Now, I know the documentaries are usually very one sided but at times interesting. Moments that stand out in my mind are the conversation Moore had with Marilyn Manson in BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, as well as Moore's visit to Charlton Heston's home. Heston's gun collection was huge. I mean, we all knew he loved guns but, wow!

The poster for CAPITALISM is kinda neat, but nothing to rave about.

I didn't know the people who wrote for Joblo were so apathetic and indifferent to movies that espouse a point or make a political statement. It's unfortunate, really, to see so much Moore-bashing over and over again on this website. I expect this movie, like most of his others, to be thought-provoking, entertaining, and significant.

The Financial-Political & Industrial powers that be- can thank themselves for giving Capitalism a bad name, both here and around the globe. BTW the poster sucks- surely they can do that?

Michael Moore's films are entertaining but they have very little resemblance to reality. I think it was no less a person than Albert Maysles (the Dean of cinema verité) who once said, "I don't watch Michael Moore movies because then I might start believing his shit."

I'm kinda disappointed with that poster. He's usually got some pretty cool ones, but that's just bland for Moore.

As impressive as Moore is at attacking issues with his particular brand of poetic humor, I'm a little worried this is not going to be as revelatory as "Bowling for Columbine" or "Sicko." Probably more like "Fahrenheit 9/11," which I feel is a weaker movie than either of the other two I've seen in its message.

Moore's a wind bag these days, but I can't blame the guy for capitalizing on these one sided documentaries after his built such a name for himself. They're if nothing else entertaining to some degree.

I'm not a Michael Moore fan at all, but can we all agree that the poster would be infinitely cooler if he wasn't in it?

Why is it wrong for a documentary to be one sided? Would you ask a documentarian covering an ape family to get the perspective of a poacher? No.

It's not that it's wrong, it's just that I'd like all sides of something. If the documentary were about apes, certainly my statement would be ridiculous but it isn't. It just seems to me that in Moore's movies the opposite of any argument isn't portrayed fairly, or perhaps I just got the wrong impression.

''That's why I don't see to many of Michael Moore's films.''

Its not like he released a film every year ...
