Carell & Fey on a Date

They've been sharing a schedule on their respective TV shows, but now Steve Carell (THE OFFICE) and Tina Fey (30 ROCK) are hooking up outside the Peacock.

While details are as skimpy as that skirt, Carell and Fey will intermingle for Fox's comedy DATE NIGHT, about a married couple whose routine schedule of "date night" ends up taking them to great lengths to preserve the "spark" of their relationship.

Shawn Levy, who has helped deaden Steve Martin this century (THE PINK PANTHER, two CHEAPER BY THE DOZENS), will direct the project based on his own idea. He's currently shooting the unnecessary but inevitably lucrative sequel to A NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM. Let's hope Carell and Fey bring their A-game to this one...

Extra Tidbit: Carell was one of about 20 actors rumored for the Joker back before the studio even greenlit THE DARK KNIGHT.

Tina Fey is damn sexy and incredibly smart and funny, if only she was single, my age and willing to settle for me life would be perfect.

Great pairing, should have happened sooner, but they need to rid themselved of Shawn Levy. I'd be totally fine with Carell and Fey couping and getting him replaced, Ted Griffin style. Sadly that won't happen, since Levy's movies make money, but hopefully he'll just get out of the way and let the funny people be funny.

Has the makings to be amazing. But yeah, like everyone else, concerned about the script.

Maybe those two should just go on a real date and have cameras follow them around. Could be just as funny.

All hail the 40-something nerd-chic amazingness that is Carell and Fey! Bumblin, stumblin, and bitin yo ass with wit.

I'm weary about Shawn Levy being the mastermind behind this though...

I am all about this. I think they could make something very amazing if, yes, the screenplay doesn't turn into Cheaper by the Dozen or some crap like that.

too good to be true

This could be awesome but things may turn very bad depending on the screenplay and direction. We'll wait and see.

Carell and Fey are indeed awesome and logic stands to reason that any film they do together would be awesome however Levy is hit and miss (Night At the Museum wasn't amazing but it was fun, well-made family fun, but Pink Pather was crap), however as long as they get a decent writer I'm sure their talent will make up for Levy's shortcomings.

Sounds Awesome

This movie sounds awesome and the two leads (Carell and Fey) are hilarious when it comes to comedy (i.e. The Office and 30 Rock). This movie can't really fail in my opinion unless Shawn Levy really screws up.

I mean I enjoyed A Night At The Museum and The Pink Panther but let's hope Levy can do better.

Infact, maybe he should let Tina Fey help write most/or all of the movie for him, considering how 30 Rock is a hilarious show due to her writing skills.

Will definitely be looking
