Carrey says yes

Jul. 13, 2007by: Ben Barna
Jim Carrey's next movie needs to be a big one. THE NUMBER 23 was prophetic because that's how many people saw the movie, and even though FUN WITH DICK AND JANE made money, it was anything but fun. And after a bunch of projects failing to get off the ground, to quote Chris Rock, he need a hit more than a crackhead need a hit. Sounds like he might have one on his hands with YES MAN. HARRY POTTER producer David Heyman is developing the high concept comedy for Carrey:

“It’s about a man who finds himself very depressed, and is always saying no. When friends ask him out, he always says no,” Heyman said of the script. “[The film will explore] what happens when he decides to say yes to every thing that comes his way.”

This sounds like a high concept comedy spun in reality. No 'universal remote' here, no sir, nuh uh. Heyman went on to call this "one of the funniest scripts I've read" which is good news, because if Jim Carrey can do anything, it's make a funny script even funnier. Carrey is naturally hilarious, as he consistently proves on talk shows the world over, time and time again. Heyman hopes to start production in the fall.

Extra Tidbit: Jim Carrey was born in Newmarket, Ontario, where my friend Tyler is currently rotting away at his mother's house, and where my laptop is currently under repairs at the Dell depot.

Nice tidbit

By "nice" i mean retarded and uninformative.

If you could just tell where your ipod is and whatever happened to that lady who sold your mom a pint of milk in May of '94 my life would be complete.

And by "complete" i mean worthless.

Like that tidbit.

What Carrey needs is a script where he can be crazy. Ace Ventura, The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, and Batman Forever all rocked because of how Carrey handled the characters. Hopefully Ripley's Believe It Or Not can do something with him, whether it's a comedy, action, drama, or whatever.

Yessir

Indeed, the script is based on 'The Yes Man' by Danny Wallace who was a man, depressed with his life, said no to nights out and invitations to parties, and decided to say yes to literally everything he was asked. And yes, he was, and still is an englishman. Google him now. I would.

Sounds like...

...another flop to me. Honestly, there's got to be at least *one* script out there that doesn't sound like complete shit.

This is based from real life

There was an NPR interview from a couple months back dedicated to an English man who said "yes" to everything for a year or so. He in fact published a book based on his life during this time. I imagine this Jim Carrey "high concept comedy" is rooted in this.
