Carrie Fisher jokingly teases her prepwork for Star Wars: Episode VII

Apr. 29, 2013by:

We have had quite a bit of confirm and deny played on us surrounding whether or not the original STAR WARS cast would be returning for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII. George Lucas all but confirmed it, but we still have seen no press releases touting that Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, or Carrie Fisher would be starring in the new film. It seems like it is a lock, but you never know with Hollywood.

Carrie Fisher has been very outspoken about her life and battle with bipolar disorder and has written an award winning book and stage performance about it, some of which touches on her time making STAR WARS. Obviously she is going to say something funny when asked about all of the rumors flying around these days, so here is what she had to say about her involvement with STAR WARS: EPISODE VII to MovieWeb.

"I like being bought by Disney, because they never wanted to buy me before. I'm glad they are doing a new movie because they are sending a trainer to my house so I can get in really good shape. So I'm really eating a lot of sugar in advance, as you can see. By the time I really get down to it I will have eaten everything."

Now, I don't want to be a dick, but it is going to take a lot more than a trainer to get Fisher, Hamill, and Ford back to their appearances as Han, Luke, and Leia. Fisher has aged the poorest of the three, so I don't think anyone is expecting her to don the metal bikini she wore from RETURN OF THE JEDI. Speaking of JEDI...

"What was his name? Jabba the Hut? I always get his name mixed up with other boyfriends. Oh God, I loved doing that. You know, they ridiculously asked me if I wanted a stunt double to kill Jabba the Hut. Can you imagine? I got to saw that neck off, it was really, really fun and one of the highlights of my career."

Nice. Even if Fisher has to don robes like Mon Mothma, I think audiences will accept that a significant amount of time has passed since the original trilogy. There is no need to subject these three to a makeshift THE BIGGEST LOSER: STAR WARS EDITION.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII opens in 2015.

The sad thing about these comments here is that probably more than half of the people shitting on her for aging badly are, most likely, in worst shape than she is. I'll bet good money, once a trainer and a dietician get done with her she will look good enough for the role expected for her to play.

And speaking of Jabba the Hutt...
[link]
...all of the Leia-focused scenes during her capture by, enslavement to, and escape from him, all in one neat little three-minute clip. :)

Oh come on, you know you envied him.

I think Hamill, Ford, Fisher and ideally Billy Dee Williams and Peter Mayhew would really work as background characters, casting a watchful eye over the next generation and passing the torch - and then getting an action scene to strut their stuff.

I love her, but I think in this case in wouldn't be so bad if they recast the part.

after realizing that they're related, luke and leia both gain large amounts of weight so that they'll never be sexually attracted to each other again.... now to find a place to put that in the script.

Episode VII: The Liposuction Conundrum

...but seriously, I will be definitely looking forward to seeing Hamill, Fisher & Ford reprise their roles, even if only briefly. So has anyone spoken to Peter Mayhew? I'm guessing he'd be down as well.

They need to bring the big 3 (and Lando) back, but they should be background characters a la Obi Wan and Yoda. Might be able to get away with having Luke in a Vader-style suit after a nasty battle (but you know, a good guy) and rely upon his exceptional voice acting.

New generation, new characters. Thats the key. If you're just making a movie about the original trilogy people then why friggin' bother. Don't make a blowjob for original trilogy fans. Reach out to a new generation of fans.

While the sequel material out there may focus on their kids, Id feel its safe to say they might go to grandchildren if they want young young jedis in the movie

I really hope they are all back

They need to bring back the big 3, it would be a star wars sequel without them, recasting would be horrible, I'm even torn about a young han solo movie, like obviously i would love to see one, but how can anyone but Harrison Ford play him?? Just hope these are better than episodes 1-3

She's 56 years old, and had a pretty hard run so

no one's going to expect her to look like she did when she was 26. However, I would love to see Carrie, Mark and Harrison reprise their roles. Mark Hamill in particular would be amazing as a Yoda-style mentor who can still kick ass when the situation requires it.

I disagree at least as far as Hamill is concerned. He's a Jedi Master - needs to look and move the part. Ford is still in great shape for his age. Fisher can get away with wearing the robes, as you said, but not Hamill. I mean I'm not knocking them for putting on weight. I've been following their lead on that front, but they're about to be paid major bank.
