UPDATE: Carrie Fisher returning to Star Wars: Episode VII as Princess Leia

UPDATE: Carrie Fisher’s reps have come out and said that she was joking when it came to statements regarding her involvement in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII: “She was joking. Nothing has been announced.” Did Fisher leak the news too early? Or was she just toying with our emotions?

After avoiding tons of questions about her involvement with STAR WARS: EPISODE VII for so long, Carrie Fisher has finally broke her silence with a confirmation that she will return to the role of Princess Leia.

With rumors of Harrison Ford, I guess that means the whole gang is getting back together. But how much screentime will they get? What about the rumors of Han and Leia’s kids getting the lead in this episode? We’ll have to wait and see. Knowing Abrams, he won’t give us much until the day of release.

This is the answer Fisher gave to the Palm Beach Illustrated when asked about her involvement:

Q: Disney is going to continue the Star Wars saga, producing movies set to hit theaters starting in 2015. Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?

A: Yes.

Then she went on to say what she thought Leia looked like and would be doing:

“Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home [laughs]. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.”

I love her.
