Cars 2 revs up first full length trailer

Nov. 16, 2010by:

Alright, I have to admit, for as much as I didn't want Pixar to sequelize CARS as they have about eight other better movies to choose from, I have to admit this looks like it could be alright.

One of my major gripes about the first film was that outside of the initial and concluding races, the majority of the film was set in a podunk town where Lightning was strapped to a giant machine to learn a lesson about humility. Good morality I guess, but a boring movie.

But now Pixar has realized their movie is about CARS that can go FAST and the entire thing has taken on an action film vibe by mixing Mater and Lightning up with British secret agent cars amidst a World Grand Prix race. Excitement all around!

And I never heard that this was actually announced, but the James Bond car, Finn McMissile is voiced by none other than Michael Caine, unless that's someone doing a damn good Michael Caine impression.

Extra Tidbit: Mater is the Jar Jar Binks of Pixar movies.

That actually looks like fun, I enjoyed the original ok but I found it a bit slow. This one seems to be a bit more interesting. Oh and I LOVE Mater!!

if Cars didnt have the name "Pixar" attached

id think it was ok. but since it does, this looks so below their level it's not even funny. and the first one if definately their weakest effort, but i think most people agree on that

Ehhh

It definitely looks better in terms of color and visuals but still looks a bit under performing of Pixar. I'll admit having Michael Caine voice a car helps but damn every time Mater opens his fucking mouth it made me want to exit the trailer

Never seen the first one but both of them look so bad and coming right from Toy Story 3 I would think this would be good too

I'm sure this will be a good film in its own right, but I'm just REALLY pissed they made a sequel to Cars before other more well-deserved Pixar films.

Eh

The first one was ok. I may check this one out on Netflix. As for the extra tidbit, I didn't think Mater was that bad in the first movie, but he's awful in all of the Cars shorts that are out there. It looks like they are going in that direction with this movie too. :/

I don't know

Why did it take so long to make a second?

Why is so many people on Pixars dick? We seem to have such high standards for a fucking animated studio, but when it comes to Warner Brothers, Paramount, and Universal, they can spew out tons of garbage a year without so many complaints? I happen to like both Pixar and Dreamworks, plus Dreamworks doesn't have all the money behind it like Disney/ Pixar...

, the man who created Buzz Lightyear and......Mater. I can't believe it.

Mater needs to be petrol bombed, apart from that is looks better than the first, which isn't saying much. I'll probably take my brother to see this, hopes are not high at all though.

I'll pass. I'm sure it'll be a decent kid's movie, but this was clearly only made to sell more toys. Boys love cars, and kids love Pixar. Cheap move, guys. Why no Incredibles 2?

I think John Lasseter may be doing the same thing to Pixar that Michael Eisner did to Disney.

I really liked the first Cars. I think people are turned off my the awkwardness of talking cars and of course Larry the Cable Guy. I initially had no desire to see it but when I did I thought it was really good. Not their best but also not their worst. Did it need a sequel? No. But here we have it and it looks like it may be good. I just think it will cut the streak for best animated film Oscar since the last Cars came out and what I think is Pixar step up from a good studio to a great studio

4 the kids

You know how many little kids will love this movie?!! I know if i was 4-10 years old i'd be all over it. I'm sure they'll be looking way more forward to this then something like Up or Wall-e with sub-plots they can't even comprehend.

Never in my life . . .

. . did i ever expect to think "Pixar" and "cash in" in the same breath. I understand it's supposed to be for kids but pixar has shown (11 times) that it can cater to adults as well. I won't fully judge this till i see it in theater's, but that doesn't mean i'm not worried.

Cars is the bastard child of Pixar's legendary lineup.. and Cars 2 looks like it'll join it.

Perfect for kids

The original Cars is a sweet, innocent friendly film. Sometimes, children (especially young children) need a film that is safe and comforting. Pixar make the most amazing films, but thet do challenge their audience and can be confronting. Cars will not upset its intended audience - little kids, but will instead keep them smiling the whole time. (And yes, Pixar and Disney will make a packet in merchandise sales, but you know what - at Christmas time, isn't the happy grins and excited squeals of your children when they open their presents worth it?)

Disney has already come out and said they're making sequels for all their movies, one every year or so. They started with Toy Story, a sort of ten years later scenario. Now they're progressing through all their franchises. It's about money. I used to love Disney. Heck, I even thought Pixar was pretty swell. But lately, they're all about the marketing, and quite frankly some of the subject matter of these films they have coming up is really, just, dull. At least Dreamworks movies are fast-paced

What's weird about this movie

Is that it's a completely different genre than the first. It's like Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2. Straight up horror followed by a comedy action horror combo. While it worked there, it doesn't seem to work here. The same plot could have been an original movie with people inside the cars but then it wouldn't grab as much money. I love Pixar for the Toy Story Trilogy, Incredibles, Wall-E, Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo but I was a bit disappointed with the rest and I actively dislike the wildly

It does seem that Pixar is taking a turn for the worst with all the unnecessary sequels. Leave that crap to Dreamworks, Pixar, you can do better.
