Casting call states that Wolverine and Gambit will be in X-Men: Apocalypse

05.11.2015

Feel free to take the following information with a grain of salt, but if you ask me, it makes all too much sense. As we know, Bryan Singer is plenty busy shooting the biggest installment in the X-MEN franchise, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Casting and characters had been flying out left and right and now that filming is underway, all that has settled down in lieu of production art and on-set pictures. That's all fine and dandy, but there are two very important characters who have been quiet on the mutant front; Wolverine and Gambit. Sure, they have spin-off films down the line, but what of Hugh Jackman and Channing Tatum's roles (if any) in APOCALYPSE?

Back in March, El Mayimbe posted that not only would these two actors be making a cameo, but that Halle Berry's Storm would also be showing up. We haven't heard anything on the Halle Berry front but given the end of DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, it would seem a little odd to drop Wolverine completely unless they wanted to tackle that issue in his next solo flick. In any event, a casting call was recently issued giving a synopsis for the flick as well as a rundown of the cast taking part.

X-Men: Apocalypse will follow the super powered mutants battling their most powerful foe yet, the devious and devastatingly dangerous Apocalypse. This legendary villain uses his incredible abilities to alter his physical form, access other mutant superpowers and telekinesis to recruit a cult-like group called the Four Horsemen to be his servants and do his bidding in an all out war against the X-Men.

The cast of X-Men: Apocalypse will feature a who’s who of X-Men characters and some of Hollywood’s most talented performers playing them including Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) as Mystique, Channing Tatum (21 Jump Street) as Gambit, Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender (12 Years a Slave) as Magneto, Golden Globe nominee James McAvoy (The Last King of Scotland) as Charles Xavier, Academy Award nominee Hugh Jackman (Les Misérables) as Wolverine, 2-time Golden Globe nominee Rose Byrne (Neighbors) as Moira MacTaggert, Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies) as Beast, Olivia Munn (The Newsroom) as Psylocke, 3-time Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Jean Grey, Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Nightcrawler, Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B) as Storm, Tye Sheridan (The Stanford Prison Experiment) as Cyclops and Golden Globe nominee Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens) as the villain Apocalypse.

It's very possible that folks may just be misinformed regarding the cast, but I wouldn't bet on it. Wolverine is way too popular a character to not at least throw him a cameo. Given that they're trying to launch Channing Tatum's Gambit with his own film, I'd say that giving him a tiny morsel of screentime is all too likely. The X-Men films have never really tackled destruction on a massive scale (a la AVENGERS) but I'm willing to bet that any mutant (past or present) 20th Century Fox CAN get, they WILL get, as long as it makes sense from a story standpoint. You certainly won't hear me complaining! Now can we get some confirmation on Quicksilver, already?

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will hit theaters on May 27, 2016.

It would be a very bad move if Hugh Jackman didn't appear in this. The biggest X-Men movie and the biggest star of the X-Men movies doesn't appear?

Hoping this news is correct.

I'm down with this. It wouldn't be an X-Men movie without at least a cameo from Jackman's Wolverine. Also, I'm excited to see te new Gambit as well.

In the comics, doesn't Wolverine kill Magneto as one of the Horsemen?

Have a feeling this movie will have a smattering of images and easter eggs to the Age of Apocalypse comic run.

Why does Tatter keep getting work. I thought Elf 2, Elf in Space would have proved to everyone that he is terrible in front of a camera.

Wolverine and gambit have been horsemen for apocalypse in the comics, wolverine was death and killed himself(actually a skrull pretending to be him.), hulk was war for a bit, angel became arch angel aka death, Gazer (mutant who could see really far sometimes confused with the villain peepers currently a bus boy at the bar with no name..)became war and gambit pulled death duty for abit all so. He was grey with red eyes and had poison gas powers.

I'm looking forward to Wolverine and Gambit both being apart of Apocalypse's Four Horsemen. So to read that they're both in the movie makes me hopeful that this will be the outcome for both characters. It would be cool to see Wolverine as a villain this time around fighting the X-Men.

You mean people thought Wolverine wouldn't be in an X-Men movie? Surely you jest.

The ending of DOFP sets him up perfectly to be one of the 4 Horsemen. Wouldn't be surprised if Gambit was one, too.

Awesome!!

I've been saying since this movie was announced that Wolverine should be in it and he NEEDS to be one of the Horsemen. That way his presence doesn't overshadow the new cast since he'd just mindless villain more or less. Also would give Jackman something different to do with the role. Then redeem the character with Wolverine 3 and let Jackman be done.

I'm all for a few small scenes with Wolverine, especially since we only have a couple films left with Jackman in the role. Still not a fan of Tatum as Gambit. Outside the Jump Street movies, his attempts at action films has been really bad (White House Down, Jupiter Ascending, etc.). I just don't think he's that good of an actor.

Lol true, but this still gives me wood. 4 years ago if you told me I'd be excited about channing Tatum being in an x men movie I'd have slapped you in the face.
