Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Albus Dumbledore

After spending a decade in J.K. Rowling's Wizarding world with eight films chronicling the adventures of Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint), we'll be returning to that world just next week with FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM. Although the characters will be mostly all-new, a few old friends will be making an appearance in upcoming FANTASTIC BEASTS sequels, including future Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore. During the recent FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM press-junket, director David Yates told ScreenRant that a younger Dumbldore would be turning up in the sequel and that casting was already being discussed.

In the second movie Dumbledore comes back. He’s got a couple of good scenes with Newt… We’re discussing who would play Dumbledore, any suggestions would be good. [Laughs]

It was recently announced that Johnny Depp had joined the cast of the FANTASTIC BEASTS sequel and, although it wasn't mentioned which character he would be playing, many have assumed that he will be playing Gellert Grindelwald, Dumbledore's former friend who stole the Elder Wand and wreaked havoc across the globe. Like Grindelwald, Dumbledore's name has popped up in several pieces of marketing for FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, which makes it only natural that he would be putting in an appearance at some point in this five-film saga.

Who would you like to see play Dumbledore in the FANTASTIC BEASTS sequel?

I smell a "Cast This" article!

If Ralph Fiennes wasn't already Voldemort, he'd be my top choice. I could totally buy his as a younger version of Michael Gambon. Cumberbatch isn't a bad pick, I think Hugh Jackman would be a good call. He's not British, but he's pulled off the accent pretty well before and will be franchise-less after wrapping up Logan. His last few non X-Men films have bombed so he could use a surefire hit.

Jarred Harris (being the son of Richard Harris) would seem an obvious choice, but you just know they'll end up casting Jude Law.

Oh wow, I actually had not clue that he was Richard Harris' son. Looks like that's a family where the talent was clearly passed down to the younger generation (unlike John Landis and his son).

Didn't care too much for the Potter films, they were ok entertainment. Saw the trailer for this for the 1st time last week when I saw Dr. Strange and I'm intrigued...

Whoever recommended Benedict Cumberbatch on the previous article had it right.

I guess it depends on what age they are going for with this role. Clive Owen would be an interesting choice. He can be quite good with a strong script and I don't think he's done a big movie in a while.

If Depp is indeed playing Grindelwald, the actor playing Dumbledore needs to be around the same age and although he doesn't look like Gambon, Hugh Laurie is an actor I'd love to see in a Harry Potter movie, but then again, I'd love to see Colin Firth as well.
