This week, CBS just interred two of its new scripted summer shows, so it's time to fill those gaps in the schedule. At the very least, the new show they're developing, Salvation, is also a genre series. From Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout and CBS TV, Salvation is an hourlong series about an impending asteroid apocalypse that will air alongside the likes of Zoo and Big Brother.

Salvation centers on an MIT grad student and a tech superstar who stumble upon the discovery of a (probably much-shortened) lifetime: An asteroid is six months away from colliding with the earth.

The 13-episode first season was written by Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro from a story by Matt Wheeler. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, and Peter Lenkov will executive produce.
