Strike Back below!

I recently got a chance to sit down with Michael Cera for an extended interview (the details of which much remain frustratingly secret for the time being) and he hinted at a project he had lined up that he was extremely excited about but couldn't talk about just yet. That project would be SCOTT PILGRIM'S LITTLE LIFE where Cera will team with writer/director Edgar Wright. Cera will star in the film as the titular Scott Pilgrim who must dispatch seven evil ex-boyfriends before winning the heart of the girl of his dreams. The film is based on Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novel with Wright penning the script with Michael Bacall. Cera and Wright have long been fans of each others work and worked together briefly on this viral video for SUPERBAD. Cera is currently wrapping up YEAR ONE with Jack Black and would then segue to YOUTH IN REVOLT for Miguel Arteta. Universal is looking to get filming on SCOTT PILGRIM started this fall. OK, now that all the news reporting is out of the way, can we just take a minute to geek out over the pairing of Michael Cera and Edgar Wright? This is gonna be good....

Extra Tidbit: Cera can be seen next in NICK AND NORAH'S INFINITE PLAYLIST.

I'm not saying that he is the only actor who does that. You are right, but the difference is (well, sometimes) is that most actors change something. Will Ferrell plays basically a variation of himself in each movie. Sure, but he changes his appearance, his dialogue is different and even though he is similar, he's different. Steve Carell, yeah he basically is the same guy, as is Vince Vaughn.

The problem I have with Cera though is that he is MORE of the same character/person than the aforementioned actors. Is he bad? No. But he can only play the quiet nice nerd so many times.

AWESOME
hey slapshot63, have you heard of will ferrell? vince vaughn? seth rogen? steve carell? They are all exactly the same in every one of their movies... it's how most comedians do it. You can say that same thing about most actors not named Bale or Depp in today's cinemas, so I'm not buying it.

This pairing is literally a dream pairing. Can't wait to see what they can come up with...

Jesus Christ, as a huge fan of both Cera and Scott Pilgrim, I never even imagined slamming them together.

Brilliant. I haven't been this excited in a long time.

So...
So this must mean that Scott Pilgrim was really Evan in Superbad and Bleeker in Juno. You know, since this guy plays the same character in every movie.

Don't get me wrong, he was very enjoyable in those two movies, he just needs to stop playing a slightly altered version of the same character or he's going to go away FAST.
