Channing Tatum joins the cast of Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Channing Tatum Taron Egerton Kingsman: The Golden Circle

I wasn't anticipating just how much fun KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE would be, but the film is a blast each time I watch it. Obviously I wasn't the only one who thought so as the very successful adaptation of Mark Miller's comic will be getting a sequel, KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE. Many of the characters who survived the events of the first film, and some we thought didn't, will be returning for the Matthew Vaughn directed sequel, but the upcoming film has also been adding some rather cool new actors to its ranks, including Channing Tatum (THE HATEFUL EIGHT), who just announced via Twitter that he will be joining the cast of KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE.

KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE will see Gary "Eggsy" Unwin (Taron Egerton) and Merlin (Mark Strong) venturing to the United States after Kingsman headquarters is destroyed. The pair visit the headquarters of their American counterparts, dubbed the Statesman, which is led by Ginger (Halle Berry) and a "swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy" named Jack, which I'm assuming is Channing Tatum's role. Also included in the cast are Julianne Moore, Pedro Pascal, and Elton John; yes, that Elton John.

KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE will hit theaters on June 16, 2017.

Thrilled with this news

This cast just gets better and better. I've loved Tatum in everything I've seen him in. Great choice!

I don't believe this. The other day I was actually thinking, if they want to do the American Statesmen right, they need to get Channing Tatum. I mean, if you want an actor who personifies American stereotypes, and has no issues with self-parody.

Slight correction...

It's Millar, not Miller. That little bit aside this sounds like good addition to the cast. I agree with Stratbust, he was so good in Hail Caesar I wished the movie had been about him.

Channing Tatum seems to do well in action/comedy

- he killed it in HAIL, CAESAR! - so this looks like a good fit for him. If this movie is as good as the first, then I'm looking forward to it.

This is hot. I still think Tatum should also join the FnF franchise.

It would be fun to see Egerton's character go up against his American counterpart in Tatum's character.

And speaking of Tatum, is Gambit even happening anymore? Kind of weird that we have heard a lot of info and pics on a lot of other comic book films except Gambit.

Doug Liman is currently working on Mega and will next do The Wall. According to imdb, his next project will be Luna Park, then Gambit and finally Edge of Tomorrow 2.

Actually, Doug Liman is apparently off Edge of Tomorrow 2. Christopher McQuarrie is taking over in that regard.

As far as Gambit goes, I feel like it's a matter of time before it's officially cancelled, at least the intended Channing Tatum version. It was originally set to have a $200 million budget but after the success of Deadpool, they found it best to scale it down considerably. The problem with Gambit is that he's nowhere near as interesting as Deadpool. Despite his roguish qualities,

Shit, I'm getting nervous now. It feels like they are beginning to Americanize this one too much...the all British feel, flavor, and foul language is what I loved so much about the first one...I really hope Vaughn has some tricks up his sleeve to keep this fresh...

Nah this is the natural progression. They're not being Americanized. In fact, Eggsy and crew will feel even more British when juxtaposed with American counterparts. And from the descriptions, Berry and Tatum aren't ggonna be American-American, but what British people view as American. I expect Halle Berry to be foxy badass, and Tatum a straight up cowboy, partner.
