Charlie Cox on how he screwed up his Han Solo audition because of Daredevil

There's a good chance that most people will see Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil for the rest of his days, but the man is a working actor and when he's not performing in Incognito off-Broadway, he actually did audition for another highly coveted role. I'm, of course, referring to that of Han Solo for Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. We already know that Alden Ehrenreich took that honor (possibly thanks to Spielberg), but thanks to a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cox thinks that maybe the role of Daredevil ruined his shot at the smuggler! Take a look!

Charlie Cox on auditioning for Han Solo:

I had gone to an audition — one of those things that are super secretive and they don’t tell you, but I’m pretty sure it was for the Han Solo reboot — and halfway through it, the casting director stopped me and said, ‘Why aren’t you looking at me?’ I realized I had gotten into a habit of not making eye contact, because the only thing I had done for two years is play someone who is blind. I never got invited back, probably because they couldn’t figure out why I was acting like a complete idiot.

I can imagine that a long-time gig like Daredevil carries with it some quirks that are hard to shake, including not looking people in the eye! I'm not sure if that was the ultimate decision in not getting a callback, but I would love to see Cox in more material outside of Daredevil. He proved to be a very charming lead in STARDUST, so here's hoping those pesky Daredevil mannerisms don't get in the way in the future!

Daredevil will return in The Defenders which is scheduled to hit Netflix in 2017.

Too bad. We could've used a Han Solo hallway fight scene!
