Charlie Sheen could have played Spider-Man?

Sep. 4, 2012by:

Warning: This post is full of tiger's blood and winning.

Or not winning...that's up to you to decide.

Thanks to one of my Facebook buddies, Logan, I came across this interesting article. I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, or a tidbit for someone in need of attention. Charlie Sheen that is.

Since I do have a soft spot for Sheen in my heart, I was a little drawn into this piece of information that he shared with Jay Mohr on his podcast. Before everyone got on the Spider-Man bandwagon, Sheen apparently had the idea to bring it to the big screen first. Here's what he said:

"I had an office at Orion at the time, and I brought them Spider-Man. I said, Look, in a couple of years, Ill be too old to play Peter Parker."

The studio, which is now bankrupt, gave Charlie a rather firm answer despite his plea:

"And they said, Yeah, were just thinking that cartoons are not the future, comic books are not the future. And I said, But its Spider-Man, Im perfect. And they were like, Nah, were gonna wait."

A younger version of Sheen as Parker? You're going to have to give me some time to really dwell on that one. While he did rock a good pair of glasses in MAJOR LEAGUE, I'm not sure he was ever Peter Parker material. Another question arises-- Is Charlie Sheen telling the truth? Or is he messing with our spidey sense?

Not Spidey

I cannot see him as Peter Parker. He could've definitely pulled of Tony Stark though.

Yes, Charlie Sheen campaigned to play Spider-Man when James Cameron was developing the project. I have read about Sheen's interest elsewhere. Also, many years ago, I remember seeing Sheen on TV asking Cameron if he (Sheen) could have the role.
IMO, a younger Sheen would have fit the role nearly perfectly. He had the look--hair and physique--for both Parker and Spidey. He was a smart-ass like the webhead. And, Sheen had the athleticism necessary for the superhero role. Potentially, Cameron's

However, Hollywood considered the project after Howard the Duck and before Burton's Batman, so superhero movies did not look so good at that time perhaps.

He was actually also considered for Bruce Wayne/Batman in the '89 Burton movie. I've read some coulda-been casting lists for the Batman flicks, and they are frightening!

Shouldn't he be playing Tiger-Man if he's full of tiger's blood?
