Che in action

11.12.2008

There's been some new developments on Steven Soderbergh's two-part Ernesto "Che" Guevara biopic that some of you may be interested to know. First of all, the films are no longer known as THE ARGENTINE and GUERRILLA but CHE PART 1: THE ARGENTINE and CHE PART 2: GUERILLA. Second, they finally have a release date. They'll both be released in limited theaters simultaneously, though as two separate admissions, on January 9th with expansion in the top 25 markets on January 16th and 25th and continued roll-outs after that. The full four hour extravaganza will be shown in New York City at the Ziegfeld Theater and in Los Angeles at The Landmark as a special 1 week even starting on December 12th. Finally, eight new clips have made their way online courtesy of "Showbiz Cafe". Click through to check them out.

I only hope

They did not make that bloody butcher a "real" hero. Che was the piece of shit in a real life - what is Soderbergh's version?

I really wish they would've released this during oscar season because i got a feeling that Del Toro might be giving the performance of his life. I've been a big fan of his work and he's really underrated.

Don't know what to think.

While I love Del Toro, and he looks spot on, I'm worried about these films. With the part one and two thing does that mean hes gonna be fighting a whole bunch of ninja at the end of the first one, and then have a very uneventful battle with his former master in the second?

I liked the original titles but the new ones bring the 2 parts together.
Before they sort of sounded like 2 different movies.
