Check out Ed Skrein in the trailer for The Transporter Refueled

03.19.2015

When questioning why the producers of THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED would cast someone with hair to play a role instantly associated with Jason Statham, the answer becomes clear: this is a prequel. Set prior to THE TRANSPORTER trilogy and television series, the role of Frank Martin is taken over by GAME OF THRONES and DEADPOOL actor Ed Skrein who bares almost no resemblance to Statham aside from his gravelly voice.

THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED (previously titled TRANSPORTER LEGACY) makes it seem like the creators don't think we will notice the series offers nothing substantially different from the Jason Statham films when the only thing that elevated THE TRANSPORTER above being a mediocre action flick was Statham.

The producers of Lucy and the Taken trilogy bring you the next adrenaline-fueled installment of The Transporter series, THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED, starring newcomer Ed Skrein as Frank Martin, the most highly-skilled transporter money can buy. The stakes are greater and technology better, but the same three simple rules apply: never change the deal, no names and never open the package.

What this trailer shows me is that there is nothing left for this franchise aside from a few quick cash grabs here and there. In fact, I would not be surprised if THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED bombs when it hits theaters on June 19th.

This will be about the same caliber as the new Hit Man movie. Marginally entertaining, rainy day viewing material. Something I'll watch as I fold some laundry.

I could see a knock-off The Transporter TV show on something like Spike TV (is that still around?). Ed Skrein bugged me of GoT, and he bugs me here with that look that tells you he's SO cool and knows it.

If this is a prequel, how would it be refueled? The series died with the third film and, yeah, Statham was always the ONLY reason to watch the films. I do applaude the attempt to create new action heroes in actors, because lets be honest, we need them. But this is a series that doesn't need continuing. There is nothing warranting it and every new attempt seems to end in failure (looking at you TV series). That they are banking on this being a summer hit is kind of laughable.

No Need For This

The whole premise of the original Transporter movie was that he broke Rule #3 for the first time. What could possibly make this movie worth paying money to see? I'm not even going to watch the trailer.

wasn't he the terrible fabio look-a-like in Game of Thrones?

Because if so, I;m actually sort of glad he's doing this now. Because at least it prevented him of stinking up Game of thrones.

I don't get how it's a prequel if technology is better?
