Check out the catchy theme for Ant-Man written by Christophe Beck

07.14.2015

Advance reviews for ANT-MAN have been somewhat mixed, although the one guarantee looks to be that we're in for a much lighter comic book film than, say, AGE OF ULTRON. Sounds like a nice change of pace! To help set the tone is composer Christophe Beck's theme for ANT-MAN. Beck has more recently composed some great scores for films like FROZEN and EDGE OF TOMORROW, but here he channels something completely different. It's what I can only describe as '60s spy meets Marvel superhero, and it's the catchiest thing you'll hear today!

Not too shabby, eh? I'm sad to say that most of the scores for comic book films these days don't exactly get the blood flowing, but this sounds like something John Powell or Michael Giacchino would come up with, and I do mean that in the best way! Also, a shout-out to this awesome retro poster designed by Laz Marquez (you can check his stuff out here). If the film is as fun as this theme and poster are, then it looks like we're in for a treat! The red ants are coming! THE RED ANTS ARE COMING!!!

ANT-MAN opens in theaters this Friday!

I've seen the movie and the theme certainly makes it sound like something it isn't. The movie is bad, easily one of the worst Marvel movies out there, and the worst big budget Hollywood movie this year. I liken it to an Eddie Murphy movie, like The Haunted Mansion or Dr. Doolittle. On top of being a bad movie it has plotholes you could drive Prometheus plotholes through.

It does sound very 70s & Bondlike, but at least it's not repetitive like past themes have been, they really changed up that awesome Avengers theme.

A somewhat decent score won't save this from being a crap movie, sure it'll prob make a billion at the box office but these days that means fuck all.

The track reminds me of 1960s spy series like Mission: Impossible and The Avengers which is quite fitting for an action / heist movie like Ant-Man.
