Check out the elvish version of Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel in The Hobbit

Sep. 25, 2012by: Paul Shirey

I have to be honest here; I have a crush on Evangeline Lilly.  She's so damn cute, I just want to put her in my pocket and carry her around with me all day, while feeding her M&Ms.  So, I'm biased and I'm okay with that.  We haven't seen much of the actress since ABC's Lost wrapped up, but she's popped up in a few places, including THE HURT LOCKER and ROCK 'EM SOCK 'EM ROBOTS REAL STEEL, which isn't too shabby, but nothing compared to a Peter Jackson Hobbit movie.  Now, we have our first glimpse of the lovely actress in THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY as Tauriel, a member of the elvish army who is every bit as deadly as Legolas.  The character isn't in the book by J.R.R. Tolkien, but why would that stop Jackson from having a hot elf that kicks ass?  I'm oddly fine with it.

Have a look:

We didn't see any glimpses of Tauriel in the latest trailer for THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY and the actress has already said that her role is small in the first film and much larger in the second (and the third? Who knows?).  Either way, any little bit of Evangeline Lilly is a good thing in my book, even if it's just a picture of an action figure card.  I'm sure some official pics will hit the net soon enough, but until then...

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY starts trekking through theaters on December 14, 2012.

And, because this story is a great excuse to share some more Evangeline...

F*ck it, one more...

Extra Tidbit: Why haven't we seen her in more movies?

Tidbit: I remember reading at one point that she thought she was going to quit acting. Guess she got convinced to do a few more projects after Lost (or needed the extra cash flow)

It's weird. Neither the painting nor the figure look much like her.

She was great as the "Adrian"-equivalent in Real Steel, and if you didn't get the Lost mini-statues, this is a great chance to get a little plastic Evangeline Lilly all to yourself! Hooray for action figures!

If you were dating her, when you were in bed together would you ever say, "No no no, leave the ears ON..."?
I'm like 90% sure that's how Orlando Bloom got Miranda Kerr pregnant.

Tauriel is a character that does not appear in the books. Not good.

My concern is that Jackson's Lord of the Rings was so well received, that he now has over confidence and may be taking The Hobbit story far from Middle Earth and into Jackson-World.

Then again, it may be just fine.

Right, because he didn't add/leave out any characters from the books in LOTR either....Jackson has also added personalities to the Dwarves that weren't explicitly in the book too, but that's not going to be bad news either.

You have a point, but I tend to think that he may go too far with the Hobbit. Does the Hobbit, a single children's book, warrant an epic trilogy? Perhaps. But I wouldn't bet my lunch on it.

I'll have to agree with you on that one. I was skeptical enough when it was announced that it would be a 2-movie interpretation of the book. now 3? I know there's alot of info to be gained from the appendices, but I'm definitely not 100% on board with that decision, which honestly has the feel of a cash-grab

The action figure doesn't do Ms. Lilly justice.
