Check out the first official poster and still from Cars 2

Nov. 15, 2010by: Niki Stephens

It's CARS 2 VS THE WORLD.

That's obviously not the title, but that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the poster. It also may have a lot to do with the fact that I recently watched SCOTT PILGRIM.

Back on topic, the first CARS 2 poster is basic. The logo is smacked right on this glowing blue world. We also have the first still from the film. Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) along with a few more cars are heading off as an explosion is seen behind them.

CARS was personally not my favorite Pixar film. I can't stand the sound of Larry the Cable Guy's voice. Maybe CARS 2 will offer something more.

Check out the poster and still below.

Synopsis:

"Star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in Cars 2 when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the worlds fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Maters action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors."

Extra Tidbit: While TOY STORY is a gimme, WALL-E has to be my other favorite Pixar film. What about you guys?

Why is Pixar's worst film getting a sequel whereas The Incredibles has yet to get one?

No, he meant Incredibles all the way. Besides, Monsters Inc. is rumored to be having a sequel.

Cars FTW

My fav pixar film is probably Toy Story... or Finding Nemo... or Ratatouille.
Cars may not be as mature and sophisticated in story as the others, but in terms of sheer visual depth, scale and quality, it's pretty much unparalleled. I can't wait to see this beautiful world expanded upon... being Pixar, they wouldn't do a sequel unless they have somewhere great to go with the story.

Wall-E is one of the most romantic movies I have ever seen, Animated or Live Action!

I was a fan of Cars (im sure that goes without saying, it was a Pixar flick)... sad Paul Newman won't be around to reprise his role!

I like Cars and I know that was Pixar's weakest film, but I'm pretty damn sure Cars 2 will be better. Just like Christopher Nolan, Pixar has never disappointed me. The top 3 Pixar movies for me are Toy Story 3, Up, and Wall-E.

I like to be surprised

PIXAR always surprise us.

A mouse that cooks ? meh...
A grandad in a house carried by inflatable balloons ? meh...
A pink bear as the main antagonist in TS3 ? meh...

And then out of the blue they ALWAYS make it awesome (and the short film Day and Night before TS3 is the best proof of PIXAR's limitless resources). So, this poster looks shit. But I KNOW that PIXAR is just going to do it again. Again. Again !

For the record, my favorite Pixar film is Ratatouille (so psyched for M:I-4 !!

For the record, my favorite Pixar film is Ratatouille (so psyched for M:I-4 !! Go Brad Bird !). Also I just watched How To Train Your Dragon and man it feels good to have a film that respects the process of an old-fashioned animated film : no gimmicky jokes, no pop-culture references and no funky tunes !! What a doozy.

Cars has to be my least favorite Pixar movie. I would much rather have seen a Monsters Inc or Incredibles sequel. As for my favorite Pixar flick besides the Toy Story saga it has to be Finding Nemo or The Incredibles.

The Toy Story trilogy is my favorite, with Finding Nemo and Incredibles not far behind. Although Cars was their weakest, that's only because it's a B next to a bunch of straight A's. Yeah, this sequel will be aimed more for kids, but it'll still be enjoyable.

Well, that probably means that next year will mark the end of the Oscar streak for Pixar... Not looking forward to this, sadly. I'm gonna wait for Monsters Inc. 2 instead.

As far as my favorite Pixar flicks, it goes Incredibles, then Wall-E, then Toy Story 3.

Meh!?

Cars? Shmars? Not the weakest Pixar delivery, but 2nd weakest behind Bug's Life. However, even the weakest Pixar flik is 10 X better than most crap out there. The one Pixar film dying to have a sequel though is "The Incredibles."

Missed "Cars", but...

Honestly, it's hard to pick a favorite off-hand. Although I must concede I felt more excitement watching "The Incredibles," "WALL-E," "Up," and either of the first two "Toy Story" movies (have yet to catch the third). "Finding Nemo" is also up there, if not quite on the level as the others.

Wall E

Not really looking forward to this, but it's pixar which means family night at the movies. Have to go with Incredibles, Wall E and a tie with Ratatouille and Up.

i wasn't too impressed by cars, and the multiple viewings by my son hasn't swayed me. a sequel will make him excited, but i'm not. i loved the toy story flicks, as well as monsters inc and wall-e, but my absolute fav has to be the incredibles.

While I did enjoy Cars I'll admit it was my least favorite Pixar film. My favorites would have to be The Incredibles, Toy Story, Up, and Monsters Inc.

I like the poster. Good for a teaser and I do like the first Cars. For me UP is the best Pixar movie followed by Toy Story 3.

Cars was a great movie and am really excited for the sequel.

My favorite Pixar movie is Toy Story, but if I had to pick my second favorite it would be Up.

Eh..

I just don't really like Cars that much, any other of their movies deserve a sequel over Cars. Its just the most boring of the concepts in my book, a world full of talking cars.. Okay... (A Bug's Life 2 anybody??)

Cars sucks

Cars is just Pixar pandering to the little boys of their audience. It's a ninety minute commercial for potential CAR toys. This looks like shite.
