Check out the logo for 300: Rise of an Empire

Mar. 4, 2013by:

Hmmmm...I thought that 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE was going to get kicked back to a shelf in Hell somewhere. I guess they decided to keep on truckin' with this one. Also kind of surprised that it isn't taking the direct to DVD route.

When I saw that a new logo was released, a slight "meh" came out. So, we decided to go with a similar logo. Will the posters look like the ones for 300? Do we need to piggy back on that? While it is a prequel, it will likely need to rely on the success of Snyder's film from 2007.

I'm not expecting much from the film. While I did enjoy the performance of Santoro and see Headley and Green as smokin' hot babes, I still just don't see this doing what it intended. Noam Murro was an interesting choice to take this on as well.

Check out the logo below.

Synopsis: Xerxes is somewhat pushed into the bloody battle with the Greeks by the gold-covered maven goddess Artemisia. Artemisia, witnessing just how much his father King Dariuss death has affected him, persuades Xerxes with her vindictive charm to go into battle against those responsible. Artemisia attempts to play both sides, enlisting Themistocles, a Greek warrior, to her ranks with her alluring charm. However, Themosticles is every bit as good a liar as he is a fighter and may be playing an angle of his own.

300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE prepares for glory on August 2nd, 2013. Directed by Noam Murro (SMART PEOPLE), it stars Eva Green (as the once-titular Artemisia), Sullivan Stapleton (as the hero Themistocles), Lena Headey (Queen Gorgo), and Rodrigo Santoro (Xerxes).

Wow.

Leave it to Hollywood to make a sequel to a movie in which all the protagonists died.

I don't care what people say. 300 was awesome and if this is anything like the original, it'll be a fun time at the movies!

Meh. I think the 300 ship sailed a long time ago. However, Lena Headey is stunning.

I don't know one person that is interested in seeing this movie, it just seems pointless.

I always liked the idea that all the "off the wall" aspects of 300 (like the Rhino or double swordhands executioner) were there because it turns out that the story is really just one being told to rally the troops, so it would make the enemy seem like monsters that NEED killing and the spartans are superhuman warriors who cannot be stopped in a fair fight.

But now the gods are the ones who convinced Xerxes to go to war? The hell?

Doesn't sound good at all. I also agree that this sounds like a direct to video movie.

This just sounds terrible. 300 was such an awesome summer Epic in 2007. I don't think the movie really called for a sequel, unless you were going to get into the battles that ensued after the 300 Spartans made their stand. So it's really not that interesting to see the backstory of how Xerxes came to power. Furthermore, why is Lena Headey in this? Her characters appears in 300 as the Queen of Sparta. So how is her character involved in the prequel/rise of power of Xerxes? If she was that

If she was that significant of a character, you'd think she'd have some more information for the 300 Spartans before taking off for certain death.
