Check out the new theatrical IMAX trailer for Batman V Superman

07.17.2015

After the very brief first teaser for BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, we got a ton of footage in the Comic Con trailer last weekend. Clocking in at five minutes, we are still dissecting every scene and easter egg in the preview for Zack Snyder's epic smackdown. But, five minute trailers are not commonly shown in general theaters, so a new condensed trailer has been released.

The new IMAX theatrical trailer for BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE hits all of the same beats as the Comic Con version but it is more tightly edited with some footage hitting home with a little more authority than the lengthy cut. I almost like this version better as it keeps some elements hidden and keeping the focus squarely on Batman and Superman. We still see General Zod's body and get that awkward "red capes are coming" line from Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor.

The Comic Con trailer is one of those things that likely would have remained an exclusive for those on site in San Diego but Warner Bros played it safe and released it online. If this was the only trailer we had gotten online, I think people would have been very satisfied. If anything, it comes across as less indulgent, something people have criticized Zack Snyder's work as being. Here's hoping the reception to this cut is met with equal or better results.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE opens on March 25, 2016.

I like the way this is going so far - genuinely looks like a sequel to Man Of Steel in so far as it deals with the fallout of that movie and how that brings in other members of the DC universe - that's a perfectly cool way of handling the growth of a cinematic universe, and I really hope it pays off for them. Seems they're taking a few risks and telling a specific story rather than just focusing on origin stories over compelling narrative. It's a lot to put over in a trailer, but they've

It's a lot to put over in a trailer, but they've certainly got my interest. With luck the finished movie will be as impressive as its potential. Plenty that could go wrong, Luthor especially, but hopefully it's all in check.

Batfleck's been fighting crime for decades and yet newspaper editors are still referring to him as "this... bat vigilante" as if he just turned up for the first time recently and nobody's coined a name for him yet?

Comic con trailer was better. But I just have this feeling that the scene with that Superman army (??) must be some kind of dream sequence. I just can't figure out how it fits into the movie. The wait is really killing me.

I hated the moral messages that Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent gave Clarke in Zack Snyders version. The point of Superman is to be better than the human race which ultimately was the point of the fortress of solitude and Jor-El's teaching. Which didn't happen in Man of Steel. So all we get in this version is a very powerful alien.

well this is the franchise that has Superman killing people, so its not a stretch that Batman gets the same treatment.

I wonder if Superman figures out who Batman is before Batman deduces who Superman is.

Count me in the group that thinks the Comic-con version is a bit better. I like the Alfred voice-over from that one where he says, "You're going to go to war? He is not our enemy!" The build up is better in the previous trailer as well.

2016 will be the biggest year for DC. Either their gamble will pay off big or perish in the process. I'm very confident it will pay off Massive.

Everything Batman related has looked great. Should benefit the film greatly in that this interpretation will vast so differently from previous ones.
