Check out the trailer for Winter's Tale starring Colin Farrell and Russell Crowe

Nov. 6, 2013by: Niki Stephens

I'll be honest I completely forgot about Akiva Goldsman's WINTER'S TALE. When I watched the trailer I went through this emotional rollercoaster, and after everything I'm still not sure how I feel.

At first I was intrigued, then I was surprised to see Colin Farrell and Russell Crowe playing good against evil. Sometime during the middle I got a little confused and wondered if this was meant to be a chick flick. By the end, I was verklempt. I don't know what that trailer did to me but I need to know more. "Nobody makes me feel my own feelings! Nobody!"

"Is it possible to love someone so completely that they simply can't die?"

Synopsis:

Set in a mythic New York City and spanning more than a century, "Winter's Tale" is a story of miracles, crossed destinies, and the age-old battle between good and evil. The film stars Colin Farrell ("Total Recall"), Jessica Brown Findlay (TV's "Downton Abbey"), and Oscar winners Jennifer Connelly ("A Beautiful Mind"), William Hurt ("Kiss of the Spider Woman"), Eva Marie Saint ("On the Waterfront") and Russell Crowe ("Gladiator"). "Winter's Tale" also introduces young newcomers Ripley Sobo and Mckayla Twiggs (both from Broadway's "Once"). The film marks the directorial debut of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman ("A Beautiful Mind"), who also wrote the screenplay, based on the acclaimed novel by Mark Helprin.

WINTER'S TALE hits theaters on, appropriately enough, Valentine's Day 2014.

Not At All What I Expected

From the sound of the descriptions and the look of the BTS set photos I thought it was like a magical tale- truly something related to magic, not the universe deciding that because a poor white burglar got the hots for some chick, he gets to live forever and so does his nemesis or something.

I'm confused

What did i just watch? I'm not sure. Crowe looks like a badass in this though but seems wasted by a romance/time travelling subplot.

It looks nice. But I'm still holding Akiva Goldsman partly responsible for the travesty that is Batman & Robin.

Colin Farell is a lot better in drama's than he is at action films. I've enjoyed his work so much more when he plays broken down characters.

Totally agree with you on that one. In Bruges was sort of a nice compromise between the two.

Looks like it could be sweeping and romantic or just kind of overwrought. Colin Farell and Russell Crowe do seem like they'd work well opposite each other.

Eve Marie Saint

I just have to say, what an amazing career Eve Marie Saint has had, and it's heartwarmingly amazing that she is still acting at the age of 89. Just pause for a moment to reflect on the fact that she was in On the Waterfront in 1954! I mean, Dwight D. Eisenhower was only in the SECOND year of his first term. Thinking about all that is happened and changed in Hollywood over that span - the styles, the directors, the rise and fall of actors & actresses, the trends - it's almost overwhelming.
