Check out these awesome posters of films both old and new from artist Tomasz Opasinski

Nov. 4, 2010by: George Merchan

If there's one thing I and some of my colleagues feel have really gotten played out this year, it's 'minimalist' movie posters. The posters below however, found by the guys over at Badass Digest, are anything but.

Artist and graphic designer Tomasz Opasinski, whose work you've surely seen out in the wild, has created some wonderfully complex and abstract pieces of film art that perfectly capture the ideas and concepts of their respective films. Basically, I'd punch a quadriplegic child if it meant getting one of these hung on my wall.

Here we have just a sampling, but head on over to Opasinski's official site RIGHT HERE to see a lot more of the man's incredible work.

Extra Tidbit: Loving this FOUNTAIN poster. Opasinski has a hell of an eye.

Once you pass the posters with that android furbie, this guy has some AMAZING stuff. All of THE FOUNTAIN posters are awesome. HE needs to be doing way more posters for today's movies. He had posters on there for movies that were terrible but was willing to shell out money for them.

Eh

The ones on here are cool but if you go onto his site it just turns into a bunch of posters designed around a...mascot? Who looks like Marvin the Paranoid Android...and it gets old after a while.

Those posters are scary in some ways. But I love 'em.

birds...

almost perfect. the matrix is great too. but, and pardon me for getting a little picky, the iceberg for titanic is an impossibility. i'm no physics aficionado and have little work published regarding buoyancy, but it could not float like that. JUST saying--it doesn't do for the eye (because of that).

I can't believe I'm going to actually debate about icebergs on a movie website, but icebergs are infact rather substantially large under the surface.

Also, artist freedom.

Fin.

The Fountain, Matrix, and Paris are my favorites. Don't understand the Tron one.

WOW. A lot of this guy's stuff is way better than what the films would up using.

Visually, the images look great, but as posters for those specific movies they fail. Maybe The Matrix one works, but the others are lame.

They all look cool, but what does that have to do with Tron? (I just have read much about the new one.

Awesome

These remind me of Criterion DVD covers (the one for The Birds in particular is reminiscent of the artwork for Paris, Texas). Good shit!
