Check out some newly released scans from Ridley Scott's Prometheus!

Nov. 23, 2011by: George Merchan

PROMETHEUS, director Ridley Scott's eagerly anticipated sorta-prequel to 1979's ALIEN, looks goddamn EPIC!

Thanks to the folks over Shock Till You Drop and Bloody Disgusting, a bunch of news scans from the upcoming issue of EW have been revealed, and in them we get our first real glimpses at Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Logan Marshall-Green, Charlize Theron, and Idris Elba... not to mention some incredible-looking sets of what? A Space Jockey colony? The birthplace of the Xenomorphs? There's definitely some classic H.R. Giger design to be seen here.

Dear Fox: Trailer! Trailer! Trailer!

PROMETHEUS opens June 8, 2012.

Synopsis: Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to lifes ultimate mystery.

I wondered the same exact thing filmaddict. Why does it always seem when a film is made years ago, and then a sequel is made (that is supposed to be a prequel) years later that the technology always looks WAY better in the prequel? I don't know if this is supposed to be a prequel or not, but I have seen films where the tech in the prequel is way better than in the sequel. I am still stoked for this film!!

The bootleg has answered a lot of questions as to whether or not it's a prequel. Fuckin' stoked about this movie!

I wanna wife up Charlize Theron

If this is a prequel to ALIEN then how come the technology looks so much more advanced than theirs was? I bet that suit woulda saved Tom Skeritt's goddamn life, goddammit!! >:(

Remember, these are just publicity stills. Still photographs can sometimes evoke a very different feel to the film itself. Colour grading and post-production can really make a film look completely different. And based on what people who attended the Comic-Con panel have said, the colours are more muted and the palette is a little darker - a lot like Alien.
That being said, I'm super excited and I hope this means that a trailer is just around the corner.

I'm not gonna lie, I totally thought that guy on the left was Tom Hardy. I like this cast, and I love how we don't know who the "hero" will be. Like the Dark Knight Rises, the less I know about this movie the more I'm going to love it.

Ridley Scott is a fucking master of sophisticated mindfuckery sci-fi. I am excited as all hell for this movie. I haven't felt this way since I saw the first teaser trailer for The Lost World: Jurassic Park - and that was one god damned long time ago.

ALIEN prequel?

Nobody seems to know (or at least nobody that is talking) how much this is going to tie into the ALIEN film, but even if it doesn't, it sure has some of the same look. The third still evokes images in the mind of John Hurt discovering the nest and the fourth still has a heavy influence from H.R. Giger when you look at the walls and even the stone face...which is a great thing! I'm really looking forward to learning more about this film.

Looks very very cool, but the space suits could look more like a Moebius design.

At a Pub Quiz tonight there were some Alien questions and my girlfriend insisted we watch the original two Alien films after the guys at the table talked up the series. Now she's pumped for Prometheus. SCORE.

The first pic reminds me of the remake of Lost in Space, but with their helmets on it does resemble Ridley's Alien movie. I hope it's grittier and not so polished. The first, second, and third movies were dirty and not so polished. I think it made them feel more real. Keep the dirty look. I don't want a clean Star Trek feel!
