Chewie takes an arm in this extended deleted scene from Force Awakens

We're two films into Lucasfilm's new Star Wars universe and for the most part, everyone's feeling pretty good about the direction they're headed. Avoiding most of the pitfalls of the prequels, THE FORCE AWAKENS and ROGUE ONE have some great action and interesting stories to boot. They are, however, guilty of some major fan service. That's a whole other article for another day, but in the meantime, we have a bit of fan service that was cut out of the former flick.

There's a deleted scene from THE FORCE AWAKENS where Simon Pegg's character, Unkar Plutt, finds Rey at Maz Kanata's castle. He attempts to threaten her, Chewie steps in, and that's pretty much it. What you'll see below, however, is that scene extended by about 10 seconds. Believe you me, it makes all the difference. Check it out!.

This is an obvious nod to the line from A NEW HOPE, where Han mentions Wookiee's ripping people's arms out of their sockets. Frankly, I feel the above scene is a little too on-the-nose. Not only that, but it raises further questions, like, "What does Unkar Plutt do after that?", or "Why does Maz not give a shit?" Chewie's always seemed like a bit of a softie in my book anyway, so I think it may have been a step too far. Perhaps I'm the softie. Let us know what you think!
