Cholera poster

The new poster for LOVE IN THE TIME CHOLERA asks the question 'how long would you wait for love?' My answer to that is about three and a half months, but this story spans 50 years, so I'm guessing its characters wait a hell of a (helluva) lot longer. The film, adapted from the acclaimed novel by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, is about a love triangle between 2 men (Javier Bardem and Benjamin Bratt) and one woman (played by Italian stunner Giovanna Mezzogiorno). Bardem's character, Florentino has his heart broken by the beautiful Fermina, and spends the rest of his life trying to mend his broken heart. Sounds like a noble existence to me. Liev Schreiber and john Leguizamo also star in the film, which is directed by Mike Newell (HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE) comes out November 16th. I'm surprised this didn't play at Toronto.

Extra Tidbit: Producer Scott Steindorff waited 3 long years to get the rights from Marquez, and compared himself to the character of Florentino because of it.
