Chris Cooper says The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be an “odd” introduction for Norman Osborn

I feel like there's going to be a ton of news and rumors on THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 leading up to the first trailer debuting next week. MTV recently talked to Chris Cooper, and he was asked if Norman Osborn will appear in the new film as the Green Goblin. Of course Cooper didn't spill his guts on how the character will be used in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, but he did say Norman Osborn will be introduced in the film, and it will be a little unusual.

"Spider-Man 2' was an introduction to Norman. And — you'll see — an extremely odd introduction, which apparently will lead to something more."

Obviously Chris Cooper can't say too much, but many assume the Sinister Six will appear in future films. Cooper was also asked if Sony has contacted him about their plans for the franchise involving the supervillain group.

"They sent me some material. But they said also that this Spider-Man is its own Spider-Man. We're just kind of starting from the beginning."

With Sony announcing plans for spin-off films from their franchise last week, there are a plethora of different routes the studio could take with some of the other characters from the comics. For example, Norman Osborn will be used in the next few Spider-Man films, but Sony could also do a solo film featuring the character. Exciting time for Spidey fans, and I'm optimistic Sony making the character's cinematic universe bigger is a good thing.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 will be released on May 2nd, 2014.
