Chris Hemsworth wraps on Ghostbusters; has never laughed so much in his life

08.21.2015

A little over two months ago Paul Feig announced that Chris Hemsworth had joined his GHOSTBUSTERS reboot as the team's new receptionist, a role brilliantly inhabited by the dry and witty Annie Potts in the original film. A photo released earlier this week showed Chris Hemsworth having the time of his life astride a Ghostbusters bike and now it looks as though the actor's adventure with the Ghostbusters is at an end.

Chris Hemsworth announced that he had just wrapped on GHOSTBUSTERS and took to Twitter to praise the cast and crew as well as mention that he'd never laughed so much in his life.

An actor 'aving a laugh on the set of a comedy film shouldn't be indicative of its final quality, even if this is Thor we're talking about, but hopefully we can take this as a positive sign. We haven't seen much outside of the set photos, but I've enjoyed what we've seen so far and am looking forward to seeing what Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth, Neil Casey, Michael K. Williams, and Andy Garcia have in store for us. Both Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray will be making cameo appearances in the film, lending it a small boost when it comes to passing the torch to this new team.

GHOSTBUSTERS will hit theaters on July 22, 2016.

Another deeply ignorant comment.

Let's beat the rush and hate on it now.

I'm a lil tired of bashing this movie so i'll say something positive. Kate McKinnon is one good looking woman

It's a big difference in laughing with a group of friends and laughing at a movie

I totally believe he had a good time. There are some funny ladies in that group (Kate McKinnon being the least funny one) and I'm sure they all tried to make him laugh and flirt with him and whatnot.

As for the movie and its script. I have no faith in it. I mean if he was talking about laughing at the movie, it probably means he was laughing at how bad it was.

Green because I like Chris Hemsworth as an actor

Of course the guy is going to say the experience was great - he's a professional and promoting the film is part of his job.

But Hemsworth is an underrated comedic actor (his timing in AVENGERS was really good) and I think he'll be a positive for this film. The question is whether he's one of many, or few, positives.

Yeah, Hemsworth is decent. But I have to wonder if Thor has done him more harm than good, as it seems he's only been able to get bit parts and supporting roles outside of Marvel.

That's not true, though. The "only been able to get bit parts and supporting roles outside of Marvel." part. See examples: "Snow White and the Huntsman", "Red Dawn", "Rush", "Blackhat", "In the Heart of the Sea", "The Huntsman".

He got supporting roles in: "Ghostbusters", "Vacation" and "The Cabin in the Woods".

Everyone hating on this movie will most likely hate it when they see it, even if it's good, if they go in expecting it to be bad. Going to see a movie, expecting it to not be good, usually always makes people think negatively of it. Not all the time, but most of the time it does. The people hating on it haven't even seen a trailer yet, but for some reason have no hope for it and somehow know it will suck...It's clear that they hate it because it's a female cast.

That's a deeply ignorant comment.

Most of the people hating on it, hate the concept because it's a reboot. You don't have to see a movie, to understand its concept. Many including myself have contended that if they merely set it in the same universe and portrayed it as "franchise" in another city that it would be just fine, even with an all female cast. The concept as it is now portrays vaginal doppelgangers, which can only serve as pale facsimiles of the original. Setting it as a

The concept as it is now portrays vaginal doppelgangers, which can only serve as pale facsimiles of the original. Setting it as a different franchise would have allowed for original female characters, and thus would be far more interesting and entertaining. It would even allow for original characters to make cameo appearances.

But for some reason, this very simple concept can't seem to penetrate the brains of those trained to parrot "misogyny!" any time anything containing females is criticized in any way. So you can take your well rehearsed female hate preaching and shove it where the Sun don't shine.

I'm with Moat Man. I really am not bothered by an all female cast. However if it was a continuation of the original series and this female cast is just a franchise story, i'd be happier. Reboots rarely work. You already have this universe where Ghosts keep popping up and could easily in the 30years continued with franchises around the world and this being this female casts story. We don't need a female version of Ghostbusters, but I certainly am not opposed to an all female cast with their OWN

I'm hating on the movie for what they aren't doing and the opportunity they are letting go of.
The video game is all about multiple franchises, that's a perfect opportunity to continue the Ghostbuster franchises without creating an official reboot.
Also, see Fantastic Four reboot. I think fans have a right to feel indifferent on franchises they've supported for so long and where directors decided to change it just for shits and giggles and not for good reason.
Again, can't stress this enough.
Female cast does not bother me (although I dislike Melissa Mccarthy, I like Wigg, don't know the other 2)
A mixed cast would be great
Just give them their own damn personality and don't mimic Venkman, Spangler, Zeddemore and Stanz. They are the one, the only, Ghostbusters. Everyone else is following in their footsteps, which would be a good thing too.

They have completely given up on it though without seeing a trailer or anything like that. "It's clear that they hate it because it's a female cast."
That's why your comment is ignorant. Fans aren't hating them for being female just like we aren't hating Michael B Jordan being a black Johnny Storm. I'm sure some are, but most fans aren't that shallow. Most fans would prefer both Johnny and Sue be black and not just one for the sake of doing it. In Ghosbusters case, Wigg doesn't bother me, Mccarthy does and the other 2 I can't comment on, but it's not because they are female that I

I will give it a fair chance as will many others, but to think we only hate this reboot because it's only women, that's nonsense.
The problem is that this doesn't need a full on reboot swapping sexes. I'd rather the main girls have different personalities than the original movies did. Let them shine on their own as a continuation from the original films is a far greater idea than what they seem to be doing now.

I ignored 95% of your comment because 95% of it was merely prefacing your deeply ignorant "they hate it because it's a female cast" sentence. The prefacing didn't warrant response, only your main point did.

But it's been my experience that those going into a film with low expectations tend to be pleasantly surprised. So your prefacing is bullocks too.

So what if people have given up on it without seeing a trailer or anything like that? People have plenty of experience with reviewing

So what if people have given up on it without seeing a trailer or anything like that? People have plenty of experience with reviewing pre-production material on sites such as this and comparing them with the final product to be able to formulate an educated assessment. And as I said earlier, you don't have to see a film in its entirety to understand its concept.

Look at those who warned that the Fantasic Four reboot looked like crap, and then were stupidly admonished for hating it just because Johnn Storm was black. And then it was released, and turned out to be...crap.

So far I don't like the way the new Ghostbusters is shaping up but many actors and actresses seem to like working with Paul Feig. I read in a movie magazine somewhere that even Jason Statham had a great time filming Spy with Feig.
