Chris Pratt shares some character and plot details for Jurassic World

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Yesterday we learned Colin Trevorrow will be shooting his JURASSIC WORLD on film, and now we know just a little bit more about the movie, thanks to Chris Pratt. While speaking with MTV News, the actor revealed a few plot and character details for the upcoming film. Pratt was asked why he was interested in JURASSIC WORLD, and he said he likes how the film answers a very important question: why the hell would these people want to try to clone dangerous dinosaurs again?

“What I liked about it was it answers the question of ‘Why would you do that?’ Like, how do you suspend disbelief to be like, ‘Oh yes, let’s make this mistake again. We haven’t learned out lesson about dinosaurs, we should definitely live with them and see how that works out!’ after like three tries at it.  They answer the question really well through the script.  Colin did a great job of writing it and justifying it and in his own way having fun with that, so anybody who goes in with that question will be really amused—the way I was—about how they answer that.”

Chris Pratt goes on to say it's exciting to work with Colin Trevorrow, and that the director has an excellent vision for the film.

“He’s got a great vision for the movie… It’s awesome that Steven Spielberg is taking a chance on this guy because he’s got a really clear vision.  I sat down with him and it was kind of like with me and [Guardians of the Galaxy director] James [Gunn], we just kind of started getting excited about this.”

The actor was also asked if his character will be more like Jeff Goldblum's Dr. Ian Malcolm or Sam Neill's Dr. Alan Grant from the original.

“He’s got a little of both.  He’s got a little bit of the Goldblum cynicism but also the Sam Neill excitement at the wonder of the biology of it all, so it’s a combination.”

So Goldblum cynicism + Neil excitement = Chris Pratt in JURASSIC WORLD, but that's also a good way of describing how some fans feel about the upcoming film. Most of us are pretty damn psyched for a new movie, but that last thing we want is another shitty entry in the franchise. I'm very curious to see how Colin Trevorrow will handle such a big film after working on smaller projects. I've liked everything I've heard about the film so far, and I hope it continues as more information about JURASSIC WORLD makes its way online.

JURASSIC WORLD is scheduled to be released on June 12th, 2015.
