Chris Pratt shares some character and plot details for Jurassic World

Feb. 7, 2014by:

Yesterday we learned Colin Trevorrow will be shooting his JURASSIC WORLD on film, and now we know just a little bit more about the movie, thanks to Chris Pratt. While speaking with MTV News, the actor revealed a few plot and character details for the upcoming film. Pratt was asked why he was interested in JURASSIC WORLD, and he said he likes how the film answers a very important question: why the hell would these people want to try to clone dangerous dinosaurs again?

“What I liked about it was it answers the question of ‘Why would you do that?’ Like, how do you suspend disbelief to be like, ‘Oh yes, let’s make this mistake again. We haven’t learned out lesson about dinosaurs, we should definitely live with them and see how that works out!’ after like three tries at it.  They answer the question really well through the script.  Colin did a great job of writing it and justifying it and in his own way having fun with that, so anybody who goes in with that question will be really amused—the way I was—about how they answer that.”

Chris Pratt goes on to say it's exciting to work with Colin Trevorrow, and that the director has an excellent vision for the film.

“He’s got a great vision for the movie… It’s awesome that Steven Spielberg is taking a chance on this guy because he’s got a really clear vision.  I sat down with him and it was kind of like with me and [Guardians of the Galaxy director] James [Gunn], we just kind of started getting excited about this.”

The actor was also asked if his character will be more like Jeff Goldblum's Dr. Ian Malcolm or Sam Neill's Dr. Alan Grant from the original.

“He’s got a little of both.  He’s got a little bit of the Goldblum cynicism but also the Sam Neill excitement at the wonder of the biology of it all, so it’s a combination.”

So Goldblum cynicism + Neil excitement = Chris Pratt in JURASSIC WORLD, but that's also a good way of describing how some fans feel about the upcoming film. Most of us are pretty damn psyched for a new movie, but that last thing we want is another shitty entry in the franchise. I'm very curious to see how Colin Trevorrow will handle such a big film after working on smaller projects. I've liked everything I've heard about the film so far, and I hope it continues as more information about JURASSIC WORLD makes its way online.

JURASSIC WORLD is scheduled to be released on June 12th, 2015.

As long as it pretends Jurassic Park 2 and 3 never ever happened, I'll be okay with it. But even then, I'm gonna wait till the reviews come in before I watch it. There are two franchises I love that I've learned to be wary about: Sonic the Hedgehog and Jurassic Park. Hopefully, JP doesn't take quite as many terrible iterations to produce a decent entry...

Hey, human beings have tried the "pivotal experiment" of communism over and over again, with it always resulting in widespread poverty and atrocity. But it seems that recently many are "ready to make this mistake again."

There's really no need to suspend disbelief or justify it. Human beings are forgetful idiots. They'll always make the same mistakes over and over again.

I can't help but get excited about these. Though the quality of the films may have wavered, I still enjoyed each of them. It's been a while since we had a good dinosaur movie, so I hope this one is at least fun.

"And that the director has an excellent vision for the film..."Hes got a great vision for the movie!"

I don't know...Just something about the placing of that statement & quote just made me chuckle. :)

..Oh yeah, & "Jurassic World" sounds like it will kick-ass also.

We'll see

As much as I love the JP franchise, JPII and JPIII were terrible. Pratt, I'm really hoping this doesn't suck. I had my high hopes up for Bale and Termintor Salvation saving the terminator franchise and instead turned out to be another turd.
- at Leadhand83, lol. While we're at it, let's bring back the now half-lawyer Gennaro.

Are we going to find out what happened to the pteradactyls at the end of JP:III?
Maybe they were taken out by a drone..? That'll be a cool scene with the obligatory Canyon-Aerial-Combat clich.
Y'know with the modern Vs. prehistoric symbolism thingy... or not.

Glad that Chris Pratt is getting more and more blockbuster leading roles and I like the direction in which this is headed; the Jurassic Park trilogy (yes, even the also-rans third entry) is really near and dear to my heart and I've been holding out for a Part 4 for a really long time.

I know right. Like Dr. Sattler automatically assumed it was his arm just because it was black. He could have been chilling in some crates outside hiding from Raptors.
