Chris Pratt confirms he will return for Jurassic World sequels

06.15.2015

Jurassic World Colin Trevorrow Chris Pratt Bryce Dallas Howard Ty Simpkins Banner

Although Colin Trevorrow won't be directing the JURASSIC WORLD sequel (which hasn't been officially announced yet, but you know it's coming), Chris Pratt's dino whisperer Owen Grady will be back in the follow-up. During an interview with EW, Pratt was asked if he is signed on for the sequel, and the actor's response was, "I am. They have me for I think 38 movies or something."

Obviously Pratt is exaggerating a little bit, but I'm sure Universal has him locked in for multiple future installments. JURASSIC WORLD opened to very solid reviews, and when all is said and done, may end up snagging the best domestic opening weekend ever from THE AVENGERS. Even if it doesn't, the film exceeded even the most optimistic projections, and is the first movie to crack $500 million in its worldwide debut. With an A CinemaScore, the film should play well in the coming weeks, but I am curious to see how much it will drop in its sophomore outing.

Which other actors would you like to see return for the next JURASSIC WORLD, and do you think it's possible a few of the stars from the original film not named B.D. Wong could appear in the sequel?

Where do they go from here???

Jurassic Galaxy?? Robot Dinosaurs? More genetically mutated ones? Jurassic Dark Thirty?

It has to be known that Jurassic World closed after the incidents. There isn't much more they could do with the films. Maybe the park is still over run with dinosaurs and a team is sent in to extract data? Idk, it all sounds horrible.

There won't be another Jurassic Park, that's for sure. Most of the fun from this movie was just seeing the park as an actual theme park. Something we have wanted to see

So what was the final tally of the opening weekend gross? Did it pass The Avengers? I'm finally seeing this movie on Wednesday.

Yes, it did 208,8 million. Avengers 1 made 207,4. But probably didn't pass it if you adjust ticket inflation. Anyway it's a great movie, and also Avengers is great. Avengers 2 sucks. That's my opinion. Hope u enjoy it!

I didn't buy in

This movie was an entertaining fun movie.... I think more people were just excited they were bringing it back. Pratt is badass and awesome as always. But the movie itself was just average as a whole. For me, I thought the first 45 min or so was almost a word for word rewrite of the original. The kids were pretty annoying... Especially the scene where he is crying about the parents divorce..,, but let me ask, why the hell was it even in the damn movie. Who cares? It had absolutely nothing to do

The thing I hated the most was training raptors like your house pets. It was just ridiculous. Then to have another group think, this is great.... Let's train them to be used as soldiers as well. It kinda ruined it overall for me. Whatever happens tho, I just hope Pratt is available for the Indy role ... Cause one thing is for sure, he will f*****g kill it for sure!!!

You're my Boy Blue!!!

Just saw it today and I enjoyed it immensely. The trained raptor aspect ended up being my favorite element to the film, so bringing Pratt back as the animal handler is great news. I would love to see that aspect explored further. And I know it was played for laughs in part 2 but having the dinosaurs loose on the mainland would be a logical step forward as Wu cooks up more of them on a hidden site here. Having raptors take out people in the suburbs while having a barbecue would be cool, or

That ideas been done. Lost World. It didn't work very well. Also, Wu wasn't a bad guy, he was basically forced to do stuff for the government to create weapons to use against ISIS... Wtf was the script writer smoking?

What can they do?

The Jurassic Park franchise is one of my favorites, and I loved Jurassic World. It was everything I expected it to be, and left the theater with a big smile on my face.

My question is though, can they come up with a good story worth telling? Sure, any sequel will do huge, no matter what it is. It could take place on Mars and it would still make millions. In all seriousness though, I wonder where they can go, without being to obvious? The park is officially played out. I don't think

In all seriousness though, I wonder where they can go, without being to obvious? The park is officially played out. I don't think they could do another park-goes-to-shit movie without it feeling old. The other obvious choice is the Raptor pack doing black ops in North Korea. Something like this will probably be the most logical choice, as they set up BD Wong to be Jurassic's new super-villain.

I just don't know how that would play out. I'll take what I can get, and if they can come up with something truly original again I'll die happy. I'm just a little concern with what will really be next, and where they take the franchise.

Jurassic Five

Universal should treat the 5th movie like they did for Fast Five, bring the casts from all the movies back together. Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, Juilanne Moore, Chris Pratt, Alissandro Nivola, and Bryce Dallas Howard are the obvious choices. Throw in some cameo's from Vince Vaughn and William H. Macy. The trick is getting a good story together, which will be hard no matter who's the star. I fear they might go the "dino's loose on the mainland" angle.

I want a Pratt/Goldblum team-up in the next movie

There's never enough Goldblum, and that goes for every movie ever.

Apparently people don't remember that Jurassic Park 2 and 3 wasn`t about the park. Well, it`s obvious the next movie is going to be about about dinos at war, raptors versus terrorist, or who know what, but it's not going to be another park.

Oh, really?

You mean the movie that just broke the record for world box office in a weekend is getting sequels? And the star is coming back for a bunch of fucking money? Get out.

I agree with Can Ispeak To Ken

The only real attraction here was that the Park finally opened. Who the fuck's going to want to see them open another park and have the same shit happen. I liked JURASSIC WORLD, but a sequel sounds preposterous.

Jurassic 2 & 3 wasn`t about the park, so I think this one is not going to be about it. In the era of MARVEL & Furious films it will probably be about dinos used in wars or something weird like it.

Like Roger said, they don't need to have the park. Dr. Wu (BD Wong) makes it off of the island with the samples from the lab. We have no idea where he went or even what all he was carrying and we know that InGen was behind it so who knows what they have planned.

Oh God

I mean... how many times can a dinosaur park/zoo go wrong? At what point are they going to decide to stop building the thing? What's even the logic behind rebuilding dino zoo after all hell breaks loose and a bunch of people get eaten the first time?

Awesome!

He was just great in the role. More serious than I've see him, but still just enough goofiness to make the character fun. I loved the kid's line....."Your boyfriend is a badass!" The whole theater erupted in laughter.

I think bringing back Sam Neil's character would be good, it'd be interesting to see him interact with the velociraptor whisperer.

I do think though they need to drop the easy "lost kids in a zoo" plot for the next ones, and start to tread new ground. Maybe they explore the "nature finds a way" concept a bit more, and the dinosaurs turn amphibious and start migrating off the island?

Speaking of which, wasn't there a second island in one of the movies?

They've rebooted the franchise so the next one could be about anything. The dinosaurs are loose so they could go on another rescue mission, more studying, or go with a dino-invasion. Just as long as they give up on the stupid military angle. No one in their right mind would think that turning loose a giant reptile on a population would work well in war. It's just idiotic.

Totally agree about the kids thing. I thought that subplot was the weakest thing about the entire film. There was a second island in "Lost World." They called it "Site B," which is the island they used to "grow" the dinosaurs on and is where the movie took place. However, the director and studio have gone on record as saying that they're basically ignoring the existence of Lost World and Jurassic Park 3, so who knows.

I did read somewhere that said a section of the map of the island

I did read somewhere that said a section of the map of the island shown in Jurassic World, when compared to the same map in Jurassic Park, shows an area of the island that was completely blocked off. So who knows what they could have hidden away in that blocked off part. Could be a way to introduce new dinosaurs in the sequel. Just a thought.

Well, the guy making the decision to use them militarily was not in his right mind, the character was an idiot. I think that was the point.

I don't know why they need to act as though Lost World and Part 3 never happened. There's nothing in this movie that directly conflicts with those two sequels or directly addresses them.

I had a good time with it but a sequel? I know they left it open but I don't really foresee a direction I'd like to see it go that's not a retread of the last two

Obviously this was going to happen. Especially in the day where we hear about sequels even before the first release. Will be great to see someone else handle writing/directing duties next.

File this under "no brainer"

Chris Pratt's star is obviously going supernova, so it's no surprise that Universal will bring him back for however many sequels they can get from this franchise.

Awesome news. Jurassic World was fantastic and Pratt was easily one of the best parts. Hopefully him, and Howard return with possibly Goldblum making an appearance as well.
