Christopher Nolan says that bringing Superman to the big screen is much harder than Batman

This might bring a slight difference of opinion, but I agree with Christopher Nolan when he says that bringing Superman to the big screen is much harder than Batman.

This is exactly what the director and executive producer of MAN OF STEEL said on the topic, "In my honest appraisal, taking on Superman and creating that world is far more difficult than creating the world of the Dark Knight. He (Snyder) has a lot of finishing to do on the movie, it has a very long post-production schedule because, unlike Batman, Superman flies."

While Superman and Batman both have human lives, Superman's roots are not tied to humanity. This part of the monologue that Bill gives in Tarantino's KILL BILL 2 explains it perfectly:

"Superman didnt become Superman. Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, hes Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent. His outfit with the big red S thats the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby when the Kents found him. Those are his clothes. What Kent wears the glasses, the business suit thats the costume. Thats the costume Superman wears to blend in with us. Clark Kent is how Superman views us. And what are the characteristics of Clark Kent? Hes weak Hes unsure of himself Hes a coward. Clark Kent is Supermans critique on the whole human race."

You also have to have the right writer to take on this view point. While there is a piece of Clark that understands the feelings and emotions of humanity, he will always be detached. This is a harder subject to write on since (or I hope) most of us genuinely feel the pains and pleasures of what it is to love and be happy, among a many other emotions. We do not have to get a second perspective on what these things feel like. To be uniquely human is to feel. As probably many of you will agree, this is a topic we could talk about for awhile when it comes to Batman's universe versus that of Superman's.

Nolan admits how strange it is to give control completely over to someone else and take the back seat, "I actually feel guilty talking about it because Im sitting here having nothing to do to it. I try to be as supportive as I can, and Im just amazed by what he is doing. Its not something I would know how to do.

The trailer was amazing and I firmly believe that Snyder, Nolan, and Cavill will bring us the Man of Steel movie we have all been waiting for.

S

I truly believe that MAN OF STEEL will surpass BATMAN BEGINS in every aspect.
I don't remember getting choked up in the BATMAN BEGINS trailer, nor feeling the gut punch of Pa Kent telling his son that "maybe" he should have let a bus full of kids perish to preserve himself.
This is going to be one for the ages.

I disagree with the "Clark Kent is the costume" thing.

His heritage influences him much less imo than how Jonathan & Martha Kent raised him to be. I guess I'm siding with Nuture over Nature. Biologically he's Superman, but he was Clark Kent long before he ever knew he was Kal-El.

Can't wait to see how Man of Steel turns out. I definitely have to disagree with the monologue in Kill Bill though. BojacRedleif is right in saying that Clark Kent is who Jonathan and Martha Kent raised him to be. He has a more ordinary upbringing than Batman, who had to deal with the tragedy of the loss of his parents and went on this nomadic journey to forge himself into a human weapon. With Superman, sure, he had to deal with the realisation that he wasn't from this planet, but he always had

That's one thing I really like from the trailer, the relationship that Jonathan and Martha Kent have with Clark. It seems like it will be a cornerstone in the new movie.

It's important to point out that Nolan is not saying that Superman is more difficult to film because his story is tougher or his character is deeper. He's saying Superman is more difficult to film because he requires special effects. ;D
Delightfully pragmatic

On the note of special effects, yes it is harder to bring to the big screen. And on another note, It's harder for Nolan to realize of Superman being grounded, unlike Batman.
