Earlier today we received some details about Martin Freeman's character from the upcoming CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, and now we have even more updates! That includes our first official look at Frank Grillo's Crossbones, as well as a few other familiar faces and scans from the latest issue of Empire. Following those up are some words from the filmmakers of CIVIL WAR, talking about the impending changes to the MCU. It's nothing spoilery, so you're in the safe zone. Without further ado, it's time to take the highway to the safety zone!

Director Joe Russo on CIVIL WAR:

The consequences of Civil War will have an even more significant impact [than The Winter Soldier]. In Civil War, we're going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe's psychology, and it's an extreme shift. Winter Soldier was a political thriller; this is a psychological thriller.

Stephen McFeely on writing for the MCU and INFINITY WARS:

We've written three movies about a pretty stoic guy, and now we get to write for all the gang. But Civil War was a walk in the park compared to these other two. We're writing scenes for characters that haven't been cast yet...

Joe Russo went on to say that CIVIL WAR will have a "very dramatic ending that will be controversial for a lot of people." For those of us who are familiar with the comics of the same name, one wonders if the MCU is really going to go that route. In any case, it looks like the Russo's are concerned with story first and foremost, as Joe also stated that "we wanted Winter Soldier, Civil War, and the Infinity War films to have a strong through line. We look at this movie as setting the stage for Infinity War, how it starts and what condition everybody is in." Sounds great! And for what it's worth, ComicBookMovie.com confirmed that Gwyneth Paltrow has done some reshoots for CIVIL WAR. Think she's #TeamIronMan?

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR opens on May 6, 2016.

Ya know, I kind of understand with Marvel's successful track record why they're given the benefit of the doubt so much, but this film is more overstuffed than Batman V Superman, which has been taking more criticism for seemingly having too many characters and things going on in it. If I were a Marvel fan, I would be wondering how the hell they're planning to develop and balance these characters out in the time they have. Seems way too crowded to me.

As long as this movie is not all about Tony Stark/Iron Man then I'm good.

What if...

...in the scene where we see both teams standing off towards one another before they fight and when they get ready to charge each other in the most intense grueling moment they just end up hugging each other and then they go out and all have a beer?! This would definitely be an awesome outtake.

Kind of annoying how the MCU handles supposed character deaths...

Loki's dead...whoops! No he's not..
Coulson's dead...whoops! No he's not..
Groot's dead...whoops! No he's not..

Pepper Potts, Bucky Barnes. Where are they? Both dead...whoops! No they're not..

OMG! Loki's dead. Again. Whoops! No. he's. FUCKING. NOT!

Marvel...please, if there's one (1) significant death you're going to do to finally show you've got the balls to give us fans some serious stakes to look forward to in future movies...kill of Cap @ the end of "Civil War" and make it

Quicksilver has only been dead for one movie, give him a minute, he'll be undead before you know it!

Iron Man

Everyone thinks Captain will be the one to die at the end, but I'm pretty sure it'll be Iron Man. Infinity War Pt. 1 will involve Captain, with the assistance of Strange, working to bring him back. Which will then result in Iron Man returning for Infinity War Pt. 2. Or, most people die on Captain's side, which requires Iron Man to seek Strange to bring them all back (which would be a nice call back to his vision from Age of Ultron).

Since the ending will be controversial, it would be ballsy of Marvel if Stark was the one who took Captain's spot in getting killed and is the one who's resurrected in Infinity Wars by Doctor Strange.

One person dies from each side

I'm bettinging Cap dies and war machine dies. They will be brought back during infinity wars though. Dr. Strange will be the reviving catalyst. Stark will seek him out to bring them back to life.

You could be on to something there. Or maybe Tony has to choose which one he wants to bring back. Or Tony dies because someone did point it out that every one is expecting Cap to die. Then Cap has to be the one that chooses, maybe Tony and Bucky or between Tony and Natasha? Although I don't want to theorize too much, some way or another it ends up being wrong.

I don't know much about Crossbones, but couldn't Hawkeye just shoot him in the eye or neck and not have to worry about him? Since it's a comic book movie, I'm probably just over thinking this.

Cap dies. Its been known for awhile. This isn't really a spoiler.

Cap gets killed by Crossbones at the end. But he'll be back in Avengers 3 part 2. Probably Dr. Strange ressurects him. But yeah. It will be controversial.

For those of us who didn't follow the comics, yes, it's a spoiler. That's how spoilers work.

Considering Crossbones doesn't directly kill Cap in the books either, I don't see this happening. Cap is killed by Sharon Carter, who was brainwashed by Red Skull.
