Clips from The Road

Sep. 3, 2009by: Niki Stephens

My Dad could never say enough about THE ROAD. After OLD COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN came out, he got hooked on Cormac McCarthy's books. He said that ROAD was one of the best books he had ever read.

After watching these clips, I can only imagine how great this movie will be. The cast is also quite fitting from what I've read: Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron, Robert Duvall, and Guy Pearce. I'm pretty convinced Mortensen makes anything great, even 28 DAYS.

There are 5 clips online from the film, but I'm only posting two here because I don't want to give you guys too many spoilers. I will load up the rest for those of you who are curious, so check back in a bit.

Extra Tidbit: If you guys haven't seen EASTERN PROMISES, you need to.

THIS AMAZING BOOK....

should hopefully translate to an amazing movie. will avoid seeing the clips as i want to try and go into this flick "cold" but i recently saw the trailer in the theater. hopefully the movie will steer clear of trying to explain what exactly happened to the world to make it so f-ed up as that is one of strong points of the book, the not knowing. seeing the visual depictions of the cannibals and their victims should be creepy fun.

I agree with your Dad

The book was also one of the best I've ever read. I highly reccommend it and think Viggo will be perfect in the role. If memory serves, Guy Pearce's character pops up only at the end.

I've got the book in my car. I need to break it out and read the rest, especially after watching these clips.

awesome

Guy Pearce must have a rather small role in this film - He isn't in any photos, trailers or clips and no one talks about him being in it. Bummer.
How awesome is Duvall in that clip above!? He reminds me of Roberts Blossom from Home ALone, Escape From Alcatraz and Doc Hollywood, Et al. Can't wait.

No clicky!

I really don't want to watch the clips...though the temptation is high. I want to go into the movie as fresh as possible...even though I read the book and know what happens, but still. I'd rather watch it all from beginning to the end. The book had no chapters, and I almost felt guilty for having to stop reading and putting in my bookmark. I wonder if when the DVD comes out it will bear the lynchian trademark of having no scene selections, hmm? Anyway, I really really really hope I can catch

My eyes are leaking

The book put me in a 3 month depression. I am reluctantly/anxiously waiting for this movie. I think I'll start bawling at the opening credits.

Viggo is good in everything he is in (i.e. LOTR Trilogy, A History of Violence, and Eastern Promises), but Appaloosa really sucked. I mean he was good but the movie really wasn't that great...I was disappointed...damn.

lol! Yeah, he's the one that got me into most of the cool stuff I enjoy now. You gotta have roots. I am not as cool as my Dad. I hope to be one day though. haha

damn

This looks like one damn good film.

Ya know, it reminds me of what I had hoped Steven Spielbergs' War of the Worlds would be like. It ended up being a popcorn flick at best. I was sadly disappointed.
So yeah, I've been waiting for a movie like this for a while now.
