Clooney and Co.

George Clooney sure does love his all-star casts. Maybe it's because he knows he's not a big enough name to open a movie all on his own, or maybe he just loves to get pie-faced with fellow gentlemen after a long day of shooting. The Ocean crew is perhaps the definitive all-star cast, and his latest starring vehicle, THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS, features its fair share of premier thespians as well.

In talks to star with Sir George are none other than Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. The film, which is to be directed by Grant Heslov, centers on Bob Wilton (McGregor), a desperate reporter who stumbles upon the story of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady (Clooney), who claims to be a former secret U.S. military psychic soldier who was reactivated post-9/11 in Iraq. The duo's travels through Iraq offers glimpses into the supposedly real secret Army unit tasked with creating soldiers with paranormal powers. Sounds neat.

Bridges will play Bill Django, the founder of the psychic soldier program and Lyn's mentor. Spacey will play Larry Hooper, a former psychic soldier who is running a prison camp in Iraq. The film sounds a little out there, but if there's one thing that Clooney has earned over the last few years, it's our trust. Let's face it. The dude has wicked taste.

Awesome!

The subject matter is pretty cool, but that cast has my ticket bought and sold!

Hoyle: totally agreed! Sort of like why Jack and Marty didn't make a movie together until The Departed.

That's one messed-up pic

But this sounds certainly intriguing. Don't know which I'd pick, though I'd like to think it's Clooney. He just seems interested in proving he doesn't need to be the main attraction. Or he doesn't care he's the coolest guy in Hollywood. Or he knows it and is out to prove it. I dunno.

Sticking him in a movie with Jeff Bridges is the kind of idea I scratch my head and ask "Why has this not happened yet?" I'm actually more excited for Ewan McGregor, who I'm determined to see make another good

I'm actually more excited for Ewan McGregor, who I'm determined to see make another good movie before his career fizzles and dies (to that end I am greatly anticipating "I Love You Philip Morris"). Kevin Spacey used to be one of my favorite actors, but now I kinda wonder what's up with him. He was great as Lex Luthor, but little else has made me think he's making the great comeback.

Pitt

If I was Pitt I'd have the silliest (Burn After Reading trailer)/creepiest (Fight Club) laugh in Hollywood...

What is "directed by Grant Heslov (LEATHERHEADS)" supposed to mean? Grant Heslov didn't direct that movie; he helped produce it, sure, and had a small cameo, but that was all George Clooney's direction, man.

The book is excellent!

I highly recommend the book and the TV-series by Jon Ronson, some truly unbelievable shit.
