Cloud watchers, rejoice! It's the first trailer for the Kickstarter funded Veronica Mars movie!

Jan. 3, 2014by: Jesse Giroux

I don't know a damn thing about the television show, so maybe I'm not the best person to introduce this first trailer for the VERONICA MARS movie. But I will say the trailer is pretty funny, and it reveals a bunch of plot details for the movie. It also has a ton of familiar faces from the series, but I only know that because of good ol' Wikipedia. Fans of the show are going to have to help me with this one: what do you think of the first trailer for VERONICA MARS?

Original enough for ya?

Plot:

A new case draws Veronica Mars back to her hometown of Neptune, CA, just in time for her ten-year high school reunion.

It'll be interesting to see how VERONICA MARS performs at the box office. The film will only be released in AMC Theaters in select markets, but VERONICA MARS still should be able to make back it's budget, since it was only $5.7 million. It should do just fine in theaters (especially compared to its budget), however if the movie does bombs hard, I wonder if it'll affect how Hollywood has been using Kickstarter lately.

VERONICA MARS stars Kristen Bell, Percy Daggs III, Jason Dohring, Francis Capra, Enrico Colantoni, Ryan Hansen, Tina Majorino, Chris Lowell, Ken Marino, and Krysten Ritter, and will hit select AMC Theaters on March 14. 2014.

Extra Tidbit: I don't care what anyone says, I loved Just Shoot Me! when I was younger, and Enrico Colantoni was awesome on it.

Bell is literally the only reason this show was ever popular. This trailer was painful to sit through at Comic-Con.

Woah woah woah dude calm down. ElderPredator is just voicing an opinion yo. It doesn't make him any right or wrong about the show. Now I half way agree with him and I'm a fan. Kristen Bell did steal the show and the only reason why I kept watching was to see more of her antics but Francis Capra and Enrico Colantoni were both outstanding too.

And besides I don't see red on his comment lol.

Who the f*ck are you to say why a show was popular? The movie clearly isn't for you, doesn't give you the right to shit talk it. Get your head out of your ass.

i could give a shit, but...

Im going to see it just to show Hollywood this kind of thing is viable and they should get behind (not in front of) these projects.

Looks like my dollar was spent well, lol. I'm absolutely psyched about this. It looks very consistent with the show and seeing the development from the first kickstarter video to putting down my funds to help out, it all adds up to something awesome. I watched the trailer last night and I could hear half of the theater blowing up with cheers and the half going "who's that?" I still think that's a win because the show was never really popular from the beginning. This is exactly what happens when

For people wondering if it's worth catching up on, watch the pilot and if you like it the entire (3) seasons is worth it. If not the movie won't be.

A long time ago, you used to be my favorite television show, but I have not thought of you lately at all

You never forget your first love. They come into your life, change you somehow, and then leave you right when things are getting good. You meet new people and new loves, and eventually your strong bond with your one and only love begin to fall into obscurity until finally you feel nothing until one day they show up at your doorstep out of the blue with flowers and chocolates.

Thats how I feel about Veronica Mars in a nutshell.

For those of you who dont know, Veronica Mars was a teen noir drama that ran for three seasons on the UPN (which then turned into The CW). The show followed teen detective Veronica Mars as she and her friends solved many mysteries ranging from fraud, to murder in the fictional town of Neptune, California. The show gained a cult following and is arguably what put actress Kirsten Bell on the Hollywood map.

I was a huge Veronica Mars fan as it was the first television series I really got into (I wasnt much into television fanaticism back then and was quite ignorant with what shows were good). Like many other fans out there, I was bummed to see it end the way that it ended and I followed the rumor mill of a fourth season and possibly a movie for years, but eventually I had to move on. Fast forward to today. I have just viewed the first theatrical trailer for the movie fans always wanted and I should be excited, right?

There are some things that should just stay in the past, and sadly thats how I feel about this movie. I commend show creator Rob Thomas and the entire crew of actors for being so passionate and so dedicated for so long with the Veronica Mars story and the fans for funding this movie, but I worry if their struggles to get this made will be in vain. Obviously, Warner Bros. didn't have much faith in this movie, which is why they left it up to the fans to fund the movie (which is an idea that is either a very good one that should be used more often or a very bad one that Hollywood can use to exploit the consumers for more money. Its all about perspectives) and rightfully so. The show wasn't very popular during its original running. Its popularity did rise after its cancellation, but nowhere near the status Firefly has right now.

The trailer does nothing for those who have not seen the series, and I would understand why if it doesn't make them curious enough to watch the show before the movies release. The trailer makes Veronica Mars come off as hokey and melodramatic, which the show really wasn't, which is why it is turning me, a fan, off as well. I would recommend to those who haven't seen the show to watch it, but I honestly don't know where you could anymore as the show was taken off Netflix a while ago and hard to find.

It could be the worst film of 2014 but they will get my money. I need a proper ending.
