Cloverfield art

May. 13, 2009by:
We looked at artist Neville Page's work on STAR TREK a little while back and now we have a lot of his early work on CLOVERFIELD to marvel at. Click HERE to check out the staggering work Page did to create the monster, and also, a couple of pieces of concept art from WATCHMEN (on Ozymandias' pet Bubastis).

In related news I think it would be awesome to play pictionary with this guy. I always end up playing with my girlfriend and she draws like rapists exercise self-control and damn it I want to win just one GD time.
Extra Tidbit: According to Page the monster is a baby in a new environment, "spooked" and looking for its mother

For all the people talking about Cloverfield, listen to the Drew Goddard episode of the Creative Screenwriting Podcast. I'm pretty sure you can still get it through iTunes. Basically he says that anything that isn't in the script, isn't real. I'm not saying the monster IS or ISN'T a baby, as I believe it could be either side of the story, but he actually makes a point of saying that all the viral stuff isn't his vision, and it was simply the marketing team that made up a lot of that backstory.

He always liked the mystery of it and thinks you don't need all this information. It's a great listen.

But yeah, Red4 needs to chill, and Cloverfield 2 and Star Trek 2 would be awesome. Abrams is 'the man'.

Well I would dispute Thoo being the best writer on this site but I have to go with the majority and say that I'm pretty damn sure the creature in Cloverfield was a baby......and it had slightly better manners than Red4

Nooo....

I'm pretty sure it's a baby. Makes a lot more sense then "It's a lone monster who has come to New York because it hates humans and wants to kill them all!". And yeah, why are you so pissed about to, to the point of attacking Thoo directly? He's the best writer on this site... calm down man.

Good stuff

I like these monsters better then the one in the film. I felt that the CLOVERFIELD monster was dull. When making a Godzilla for a new era, spice it up a bit.

ACTUALLY...

I think the monster WAS supposed to be a baby. I think the quote was literal considering i read and saw the interview in context. At this point, though, who knows? All we really know after piecing together the viral marketing, and the film, is that the company drilling for SLUSHO shit is responsible for disturbing the monster. Never understood why he ended up in new york but yeah..

Bring on Cloverfield 2 and STAR TREK 2!

fuck you thoo

The monster is not a god damned baby, and no one ever said it was in a literal fashion. That statement, by whoever said it first, was a METAPHOR to explain how the monster feels. IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE TAKEN LITERALLY! Fuck, it's ridiculous how blown out of proportion that quote has become.

Pictionary does not a good artist make... Or something..

I like to think that I have more than a moth's fart worth of artistic talent, but I still suck at Pictionary. Hell, I'm sure Pollack got spanked in Pictionary and he supposedly makes works of art. Stick-figure'ers rejoice!!
