Cloverfield to vampire

Let’s say that for your last directing effort, you crushed New York with a giant monster. How would you follow that? A remake? Some bloodsuckers?

No — both. CLOVERFIELD director Matt Reeves is planning an Americanization of the outstanding Swedish vampire movie LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, which has been gathering accolades at festivals this year. Overture and the resurrected Hammer Films are handling the redo.

Reeves, one of JJ Abrams’ “Bad Robot” gang, will also write the script. The original revolves around a vengeful young outcast who falls for his new neighbor, an unusual but captivating girl who turns out to be a vampire.

Before tackling the alternative to TWILIGHT, Reeves will make his thriller INVISIBLE WOMAN, about a former beauty queen who turns to a life of crime.
