Cobie Smulders, who portrayed the tenacious, tough-as-nails S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill in last summer's THE AVENGERS is slated to jump back into the Marvel fray with next year's CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER and potentially in the now-filming S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show.  Smulders, who also stars on the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother, shared some info about the projects with I Am Rogue, talking about her committment to the role and what her current knowledge is of the upcoming projects.

Smulders said she didn't know exactly when she'd report for duty on the CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER set, only that "it's some time in March or June."  When asked if she'd read the script, she replied, "I’ve seen parts of it, but yeah I don’t know much. This is Marvel! They don’t let you know anything."

The actress commented on the script pages for Marvel Studios' films, saying, "It’s very watermarked scripts, heavily watermarked. Yeah, they don’t let you know like the day of, but they are very secretive and I think they are still figuring stuff out."  That should come as no surprise, as Marvel has demonstrated its resolve to retain secrecy continuously, but most effectively with THE AVENGERS, which was had everyone speculating on details right up to the premiere.

When discussing the possibllity of bringing Agent Hill to the small screen for the Joss Whedon-produced S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show, Smulders seems to be upbeat about the prospect, confirming that it has been discussed. "The commitments to [How I Met Your Mother] don’t affect it.  And I can’t really say but there are definite talks about it."

Overall, Smulders is committed to returning to the role, saying, "Oh yeah! I’m very excited. I will do Maria Hill until they fire me and hire someone else to do it," she said.   I'm a fan of Smulders and find her to be one of the saving graces of the now-flailing How I Met Your Mother.  She's both lovely and talented and I look forward to seeing her branch out.  Marvel needs more females in their films and Hollywood needs more actresses like her.

Smulders will next be seen in SAFE HAVEN, opening February 14, 2013, and the Vince Vaughn comedy THE DELIVERY MAN out October 4, 2013, then back in the skin-tight duds of Maria Hill for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER on April, 4, 2014.

Nice outtake

She's such a goof. (I mean that in the best way)

She's hot, and I thought she made a great Maria Hill. I saw Safe Haven to review it and it was, as expected, run-of-the-mill Nicholas Sparks dreck - but I found myself wishing Smulders and not Julianne Hough was playing the lead female character, so that's to her credit.

I actually would have liked a little more Agent Hill screen time in The Avengers, so its great to know she'll be around in future Marvel projects

-I too disagree with the "now-flailing" comment about How I Met Your Mother. Of all the sit-coms that i've been watching since the pilot premiered i think it's held up the strongest, and maybe even gets better for me as the years go by. The Office, 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny; they've declined in quality and i'd say along with HIMYM only Modern Family and Parks & Rec have consistently gotten better.
-As for the main point of this article, Cobie Smulders, i have no qualms with her showing up in

Oddly enough I'm just not that excited for the Avengers tv series. I'll check it out! Not saying I won't give it a look, but I just don't have high expectations. It needs to be understood that fans want to see action, action, and more action. Spar us the love triangles, and keep the budget high, so we get lots of effects. I want to see super powers, not just high tech crime fighters.

I disagree that How I Met Your Mother is a "now-flailing show." I still enjoy it and think it is one of the better written comedies on Broadcast television, with some creative plot lines and well-structured storytelling. I also appreciate some of the character development, specifically with Barney and Robin. I do want to finally meet the mother, but in the meantime, I find the show entertaining. Of course, it did fall into the trap of delaying the inevitable between Barney and Robin, but I

As for this news, about Marvel, I'm all for it, but I do find her Maria Hill very monotonous in her line delivery and not very interesting. Hopefully, she shows more in future installments.

It's funnier than The Office and 30 Rock, but I find other comedies such as Go On, Modern Family, Community, Parks and Recreation, Archer, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Anger Management a lot funnier. I just think that they dragged the whole mother storyline for too long.
