Cohen gets in Accidentes

After filming two back-to-back guerilla-style comedies, Sacha Baron Cohen is sticking to characters in scripted movies for the future and has set up a couple of projects in Hollywood. The first is a comedy set up at Universal titled ACCIDENTES, which would star Cohen as “an ambulance-chasing personal injury attorney of Latin descent who becomes a hero of the working class.” The film had previously been set up at Fox for Cohen to produce but once Fox Atomic closed, Cohen brought the rights to Universal (who released BRUNO) and agreed to star in the film.

Also in the works is an untitled project based on a spec pitch by Cohen that the actor will write with Ant Hines, Peter Baynham and Dan Mazer, who he worked with on both BRUNO and BORAT. The plot of that film is being kept under wraps. While Cohen hasn’t decided on what project he’ll star in next, word is that this script is a candidate. That would be unfortunate though as the project is just starting to script now, which means filming could be a ways off. It’d be nice to see Cohen do some more regular acting work.
