Colin Farrell beats on people in the trailer for British gangster movie London Boulevard

10.29.2010

Writer William Monahan proved he could handle gangsters with his Oscar-winning work on THE DEPARTED.

With LONDON BOULEVARD, he brought that experience and talent to England for his directing debut and rounded up a solid cast that includes Colin Farrell, Keira Knightley, Ray Winstone, Ben Chaplin, David Thewlis and Anna Friel.

Monahan adapted Ken Bruen's novel about a London ex-convict who tries to go straight, but numerous people from his past and present lure him toward a life of crime. Watch below as Farrell gets into trouble and busts some chops with his accent intact.

Extra Tidbit: Speaking of London gangster movies, anyone catch Winstone in 44 INCH CHEST?

Colin back to bad a$$

Movie looks good. Winston is the f**king man and what ever happened to Chaplin? Haven't seen him in a while.

44 Inch Chest

I absolutely loved Winstone in 44 Inch Chest. In my opinion it's his career defining performance. The guy should have gotten some attention for such an amazing peice of work.

The book was great. I was just wondering how much of the movie would be like the book. I assume a little different being the actress character is a lot older then Keira.

love the trailer. just HATE how they always seem to cue "London Calling" in every trailer for any crime/bank robbery/heist movie that takes place in London. It gets quite tedious after a while. Looks great though. Love that Ray Winstone's in it... AND WITH GLASSES! Cool. That dude was born to play gangsters.

Yeah, both London Calling and Club Foot are the most generic music used in British crime movie trailers, I swear.

Definitely my cup of tea. I've been a fan of Farrell's since "Minority Report" but I honestly never thought he'd become such an in-demand talent, especially with all the false starts he had. So glad things are turning around for him.

I love these english films. In Bruges was fantastic, my only beef, being a Yank from across the pond, is I always have trouble understanding what they are saying. I feel like such a dick having to turn on closed caption haha.

As you progressively watch more and more British films, it'll get a lot easier as you'll develop an ear for it. Just keep at it...

No question....

Colin Farrell as the enforcer, Ray Winstone as the boss and Keira Knightley as the sexy love interest = SOLD!
