Come fight alongside Dwayne Johnson in this new trailer for Hercules

06.03.2014

A new trailer for HERCULES has been released, giving us another look at Dwayne Johnson and director Brett Ratner's take on the Greek mythological figure. HERCULES does have a few things going for it, including a very strong cast (besides Johnson the film also stars Rufus Sewell, Ian McShane, John Hurt and Joseph Fiennes), and it looks like it'll be a very fun movie.

However if you're expecting something more than that from HERCULES, you're probably going to be disappointed. I'm still not 100% sold on HERCULES, but watching Dwayne Johnson kicking ass is always a blast, and it appears we'll be getting plenty of that in his new movie.

"Do I look afraid?"

HERCULES will open on July 25, 2014.

Those effects are so poor, big pass on this one, I'm sure it'll be better than the other Hercules movies from a few months back but then that is saying absolutely nothing at all.

Not every film has to be artsy and pretentious. I think this is the closest we'll get since the Rocky franchise to being just plain fun and make us ashamed of our bodies at the same time.

No "From Director Brett Ratner." Or anything to do with him in the marketing but plenty of Irina Shayk looking half naked instead to sell tickets to this.Ratner=Bad,Shayk naked human back =Good, and some thing about a lion in this as well lol.

What is with this Clash of the Titans, Hades is the Greek mythology version of Satan, Bullshit!

Hollywood movies need to stop with that train of thought altogether. They've been doing it since the Disney Hercules. There are plenty of other monsters they could use as villains. Other than that there's some other crap that makes me uneasy (the needless slo mo, the unfunny joke at the end) yet I'm still exited for this one. It still looks far better than any other Hercules movie Iv'e seen. I'm still thinking it could be one of the most awesome movies of the year.

This looks fun in that way Greek myths are supposed to be fun. Not brooding and self-serious like other recent adaptations. And I haven't seen Rufus Sewell having that much fun in a while. That thong shot is annoying though. Not because I don't appreciate it, but it feels like a built-in censor where a quick cut-away would suffice.

That was pretty cool.....

I was worried after the first trailer, but that looks like a lot of fun. I really like Johnson and would love to see him find a role that really launched him to the star I think he should be. If nothing else, it'll be an awesome popcorn movie.....

This actually looks like's it's fairly faithful to the actual Greek myth, which may be a first for a Hercules film. This looks surprisingly good!

Is Rufus Sewell playing a good guy?!?

I'm down. Love when actors aren't typecast.

Why does everyone shit on Ratner? Red Dragon was really fucking good. Rush Hour films were fine for what they are. Is it because of X-Men?? He didn't write the screenplay did he? So why bash him so much? I'm actually very interested to hear why you made that comment. Certainly there are worse directors out there. Maybe he just needs better scripts...

Yeah, I like Red Dragon better than Silence. Rush Hour trilogy is quite fun. Must be X-Men 3

The production values way outstrip that of The Legend of Hercules and the likes of Rufus Sewell, Ian McShane and The War Doctor in the cast are indeed encouraging, but there's still every chance that this will turn out pretty darn silly.

What is wrong with silly, as long as it's also fun? You reference "The War Doctor" in you post, which leads me to believe you're a Doctor Who fan. Doctor Who is undeniably silly, but also the best time I've had watching a TV show ever. I don't know but this looks fun, perhaps silly, but ultimately fun. What else would you want from a Hercules movie?

I enjoy films that are fun and entertaining, but to me there's "Independence Day"-type silly and there's "Batman and Robin", the line between the two sometimes quite blurry. The danger with this film is that if it sets out to be some kind of sweeping fantasy epic and then just comes off as unconvincing, it falls into the latter category. Doctor Who may have began as silly and post-2005 Who has had its share of silly moments, but under the guidance of Russell T. Davies and later Steven Moffat,

Doctor Who may have began as silly and post-2005 Who has had its share of silly moments, but under the guidance of Russell T. Davies and later Steven Moffat, the stories have become dramatic enough to be taken seriously and the production values have improved immensely. Whenever Doctor Who is silly, it does have its tongue in its cheek. I don't think that appears to be the case with this Hercules, at least from the trailer. I'm still hoping Hercules is a good time, though.
