Jul. 20, 2013by:

This major news item just broke in Hall H at Comic Con around 20 minutes ago. Not much more to say at this point, but we'll provide you with full panel coverage a little later. For now, read 'em and weep and let us know your thoughts below! All I could say....whooaaah.

Director Zack Snyder Unites Superman and Batman in One Explosive New Film

BURBANK, CA, July 20, 2013 – On the heels of the worldwide success of “Man of Steel,” director Zack Snyder is bringing together the two greatest Super Heroes of all time—Batman and Superman—for the first time on the big screen.

The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution,Warner Bros. Pictures. The current hit, “Man of Steel,” has taken in more than $630 million at the worldwide box office to date, and climbing. Along with its star, Henry Cavill, the upcomingfilm brings back Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

The new Batman has yet to be cast.

Snyder is co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay. Production is expected to begin in 2014, with an anticipated release date inSummer 2015.

Silverman stated, “Zack Snyder is an incredibly talented filmmaker, but beyond that, he’s a fan first and he utterly gets this genre. We could not think of anyone better suited to the task of bringing these iconic Super Heroes to the screen in his own way.” Kroll added, “We are thrilled to be back in business with Zack and his team on this next movie. The success of ‘Man of Steel’ is a wonderful testament to the love and support that both fans and new audiences, worldwide, have for these characters. We are very excited to see what Zack has in store for all of us.” Diane Nelson, President, DC Entertainment, noted,“Superman and Batman together on the big screen is a dream come true for DC fans everywhere. All of us at DCEntertainment could not be more excited for Zack’s continuing vision for the DC Universe.” Zack Snyder, who made a surprise appearance at Comic-Con today, breaking the news to audiences there, later said, “I’m so excited to begin working again with Henry Cavill in the world we created, and I can’t wait to expand the DC Universe in this next chapter. Let’s face it, it’s beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest Super Heroes in the world.” The new film brings back Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder as producers. This time, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers, along with Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan. Thomas offered, “Whilst our ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy is complete, we have every confidence that Zack’s fresh interpretation will take the character in a new and exciting direction. His vision for Superman opened the door to a whole new universe and we can’t wait to see what Zack does with these characters.” The film is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, and Batman characters created by Bob Kane, published by DC Entertainment.

I'm kind of glad to see all the "worries" and negative reaction for this. That way atleast when this movie comes out their expectations will be low only to have their freaking mindholes blown away! This should be a great movie.

Some posters bring up a good point. The awesome dynamic between Batman and Superman is now lost. They were once two sides of the same coin, Superman being the light and Batman being the dark. Now we have a Superman who is darker and more violent & unhinged than Batman. They are essentially the same character now. It will just be weird to have Superman condemning Batman's violence after MoS.

Zack a fan boy? He got rid of one of the most important elements of Superman and that being the fortress of solitude. Its not as if Man of Steel was a huge success, it didn't brake any records which is important to one of the greatest comic book characters of all time.

I guess the thing that excites me the most about this isn't necessarily the team up movie but the introduction of Batman into a somewhat established science fiction universe. I really like the Nolan Bat-films as much as the next fan, but in a world where aliens exist we have the possibility of seeing a fully realized set of rouges that rely on the strong sci-fi elements that have been missing. Clay Face, Ivy, Croc, and maybe a proper telling of Ras and Fries, as well as Joker, Harley, Penguin,

Almost every part of me fears this will suck. Big time. Anyone who wanted to see a good sequel to Man of Steel that fleshes out Superman/Clark Kent and those characters more are likely to be shit outta luck, because the filmmakers are now going to focus more on Batman's... reintroduction? Then there's the factor of casting... I'm just incredibly skeptical. I think this move could mean that NEITHER Batman or Superman will get their proper due... especially under the guidance of Snyder and Goyer.

Great news

... but I really was expecting a sequel to MoS with a Batman cameo and then a film with both. Anyway this is a better way to move foward from DC and WB, instead of a rushed JLA movie.

Leave this in the comics...Zack Snyder sucks!

A Superman who is a murderer, or should I say a mass-murderer, and he's darker and grittier than Batman. What's Batman going to have to do to become the dark and gritty one again, join the Illuminati?

To me "Man of Steel" was a let down and had promising story concepts that were executed very poorly. I put a lot of this blame on Zach Synder, as he's always been a director that's all about flash and not substance. This is not good news in my mind as they should make sure Supes is done right before throwing other characters in the mix for Synder to ruin.

They haven't figured out Superman yet and now they are throwing Batman into the mix, this will be a clusterfuck.
They should just focus on doing Superman right and leave the Justice League dream on the shelf for a while.

Snyder's on a roll, let him ruin Bats too...

Great concept and done right will be fantastic, however allowing the same team back who did Man of Steel is just asking for creative trouble. What a mess of a film that was, he ruined Sups for me I don't want Bats ruined as well.

Hopefully the movie will no be as depressing, boring and somehow "lifeless" as Man of Steel. But with Snyder, Goyer and Nolan involved I keep my expectations low.

I feel like, somehow, Snyder keeps getting projects even though he has yet to become some kind of pinnacle of a director. He definitely has a unique style of filmmaking, but his films are always so divisive. And he keeps landing bigger and bigger projects. Man of Steel was a competent enough film, but it never really rose to the level it should have. Now Snyder will be taking on both Superman AND Batman? I don't even know if Snyder could top that in terms of sheer epic.

I'm guessing you're either Terry Rossio, Robert Wade or Roberto Orci.

Hopefully not Melissa Rosenberg (cause the Twilight saga was shit).

I agree with you, but I gave you something to relish anyway. And, honestly, I thought Bale was an OK Batman. He was good in Begins, because he kept the character grounded, but with TDK, Ledger stole the show; and TDKR... was a just an all around clusterfuck.

Thank you! I'll be taking your downvote home and making sweet sweet love to it tonight.

I don't completely disagree with your assessment of Bale's performance as the trilogy progressed, although clusterfuck might be putting it a bit strongly. He was certainly a far better Batman than either Kilmer or Clooney.

Come on guys, ENOUGH with the "bring Christian Bale back" comments. Seriously. He's already stated multiple times and in multiple ways that he's NOT returning. He was a great Batman, but he's done.

Let's get something straight

I'm okay with Zack Snyder. I think Goyer is a good writer (better in collaboration, but a terrible director, ha ha). I loved the Nolan Batman movies. I actually liked Man Of Steel, and up until this morning was excited to see where they would go with it now that the awkward origin story is out of the way. HOWEVER. A Man Of Steel sequel with Batman in it as well is just a disaster waiting to happen. I truly don't understand the masses of rabid drooling mindless simpering fanboys professing their

Having said that I am more than happy to be proved wrong but I am dubious at best.

Oh noes...

A number of news reports are surfacing that it's not going to be a stand alone offshoot Superman vs Batman movie but instead the actual Man Of Steel sequel which will have Batman in it.

If this is true I am extremely dubious about this idea... Once again, WB are jumping the gun on giving us a GOOD Superman movie and trying to have their cake and eat it too. BAD IDEA and further proof that WB have no idea what they are doing. I want a proper Superman movie!!!!

Actually this is a good idea. I mean Marvel beat them to the punch with a super team film (since most folks forget Watchmen) So DC can get there first with a superhero team up film.

Well, I wouldn't say the "pinnacle of superhero films", as it only had one good and solid movie out of 3. The first one was very boring. The second was pretty damn near perfect (replace Bale and it might have been). The third and last of the trilogy was a bit of a clusterfuck and almost as bad as the first one.

1. You claim The Dark Knight is Christopher Nolan's only good work and he got lucky. I guess you haven't seen Memento.
2. You can't "fire" a producer, a producer is the person putting their own money into the film, they are taking all the risk.
3. I seriously doubt you have written better movies than David Goyer or Zach Snyder.

Marty, baby, you have no fucking idea what you are talking about at all.

Most producers have absolutely none of their own money in the film. That comes from the studio. If every producer self-financed every picture there would be no need for studios at all. Producing is a skill set, like any other job. It has nothing to do with your own money. Certainly, having your own money in on a picture would make you a producer, but having none of your money in doesn't mean you can't be a

If Nolan and DC were smart, (which the jury is still out on) they'd hire someone like a Geoff Johns to help co-write this movie, Goyer has proven he can't do it on his own and someone competent is needed or we're gonna end up with another turd burger like Meh of Steel.

Seeing as how the power of the almighty dollar is alluring to the studios, bringing him back for another interpretation has dollar signs written all over it. With all due respect to Mr. Ledger's performance, he nailed the part, but you can't not do Joker just because he was done so well by a now deceased actor. They have to bring him back eventually, it's inevitable. And now that there's a new interpretation of the Bats, we can now have a new interpretation of the iconic villain. And with Bats

And with Bats teaming up with Supes, and throwing the Joker in for good measure, there's your Avengers size blockbuster. I'd certainly be there day one.

I'm certainly not saying that another actor can't do another version of the Joker, nor that another actor can't somehow create a performance that's equally iconic; point of fact, before TDK was released everyone wondered how Ledger could top Nicholson's performance, which now looks remarkably twee and childish when compared to Ledger's Joker. In fact, as you say, I believe it's probably inevitable. I am, however, saying that it's too soon. There would be a huge backlash from fans of Ledger's

There would be a huge backlash from fans of Ledger's iconic performance who would view it as disrespectful to Ledger's memory. And that's the kind of bad press that a Superman vs Batman movie doesn't need. I don't believe enough time has passed that any actor wouldn't be able to distance himself from Ledger's performance that the new Joker would be different enough to be a completely new interpretation.

So there.
11:58AM on 07/22/2013
There is absolutely going to be another Joker in the not too distant future. If they are rebooting the Batman franchise you are going to see a new Joker. If they have any brains at all they will avoid Ledger's take on the character like the plague, but we will without a doubt be seeing the Joker again. He is necessary for a proper Batman.

I remember that, I doubt they've been planning this since the whole DC Universe movie thing seems really patched together with no real plan whatsoever.

Uh... no. Definitely not planning. Have a look at WB's track record for "planning".

Also, do a quick google search next time. Find out what really happened with that Superman v Batman poster in I Am Legend.

WOW

So all of Goyers quotes of sequel ideas putting Superman on a world stage are thrown out the window because WB didn't reach the billion dollar mark, so to make up for it they're adding batman before we even get a movie where Superman is actually Superman? So it looks like DC is just going to say "fuck it" let's just get it out there regardless if it's good or not. Seems like they're taking the Asylum approach to filmmaking, but with modern mythical characters.

I hope there's a part in this film where Batman is trying to arrest two super-villains in some unpopulated farmland and then Superman drags the criminal away from the safe area, and smashes them through a silo, killing all of the employees and passers-by, and then crashes him through a petrol station full of staff and customers which explodes and kills them all. Before laying waste to every living being in Gotham except for Lois Lane (who's there on business)

And then when the villain looks to get away from Superman's ungodly and uncharacteristic wrath, possibly by driving away in a truck, instead of being saved from death by Batman and charged for their crimes, Batman appears in his flying Batwing and bombards their truck with rockets and missiles and bullets until they just straight up die.

Then Batman rugby tackles another one off a building and he breaks his neck when he lands.

.....and then at some point Catwoman saves Batman by killing his enemies with more guns and missiles from his Batpod.

...and then the movie ends with them all preaching about how they save the world by not killing people.

......and then Superman snaps Batman's neck.

I like the idea of getting negative reviews for essentially explaining the things that actually happen in the last Batman and Superman movies, as if I've negatively made it all up.

I think this is great news! It is a different way to setup the Justice League movie and it brings something to the screen that tons of fans have wanted for a long time. However I'm not too sure how much Batman is going to be in the film. If you notice it is still going to be called Man of Steel 2. My guess is that they will have Bruce Wayne as a more important part of the story than Batman. Then build that up towards the end of the film where Batman and Superman are together and that leads into

Do they love Zach Snyder or love love him?

Excited to hear about a Batman and Superman film, but not so excited to hear that Zack Snyder is directing. I hope they continue the Batman from The Dark Knight trilogy.
Do you think he'll have more sexy dancing in this film than he did in "Sucker Punch"?

I'm still in the very disappointed with MoS camp but this is brilliant news for anyone whos a fan of this stuff. I'll hold my current opinion of WB's lack of foresight in developing a DC cinematic universe to rival Marvel but this is a very good start. I've said this so many times...and it should go without saying...but just a little bit of foresight and Bale's Batman could have been in this. There was no reason to give him that pointless limp in Rises and no reason to have his business

I swear, it's as if Nolan desperately didn't want WB's to put him in their cinematic universe. Anyhoo...great news - just hope they can deliver - they've definitely got my positive attention with this announcement. Please dont lose the momentum this piece of new will generate.

Dammit, I so wish I was in Hall H to hear this announcement, I'm glad a World's Finest flick is on the road! I'm still of the persuasion that they could've skipped right to a Trinity movie, but I think this makes sense as a way to introduce a new Batman in the MOS-verse. I wouldn't want him to be too different from the Christian Bale iteration, but distinct enough. They've gotta cast someone good, and fast.

I don't know that I'd call him shallow or vacuous as a director. Regardless of what else you may think of his films, they have all been visually stunning, and he certainly knows how to shoot action and special effects.

As for the crazy pills part, you're right on the money.

Makes Sense

If JUSTICE LEAGUE is coming out in 2017 with BATMAN and FLASH coming out in 2016, then this is more of a strategic and proper plan on DC and WB's part in setting up the timeline for the DC Cinematic Universe. I like where this is heading now.

The thumbs down is for SocialBee

He said "Who the hell are some of you people to tell others what a good cbm is?"
Oh, so he's the only person that can tell others what's a good comic movie and what's a bad one?
And I love how he told us to just enjoy a movie. So we're suppose to enjoy EVERY movie we see? You know, he's right. Jack & Jill was great and so was Bucky Larson. I mean I thought they sucked, but now I know that I'm supposed to enjoy them, cuz SocialBee said so, so they are great movies now.

Yeah, stop being critical and just rave about any lame piece of shit that the movie studios are gracious enough to let you pay to see. Stop being picky! If you just agree to enjoy everything no matter how derivative, simplistic and indifferent it is you will enjoy movies a lot more.

Also, you can apparently only criticize a person's product if you can do it better than they can. This means no opinions are allowed about: directors, actors, singers, musicians, artists, pro athletes,

Of course, this argument collapses in on itself when you ask who it is that determines who is more successful, and is allowed to have an opinion, given that success is entirely subjective and no one is allowed to have an opinion about anything they aren't the best at. But don't let that stop you, fellas.

AND GODDAMMIT STOP THINKING AND JUST ACCEPT EVERYTHING WITHOUT THOUGHT OR COMPLAINT!!! STOP THINKING!!! (I'm trying to help you out SocialBee and mattyice).

A few things?

So, they have no script and no story but they are going to fit Batman in regardless?
And, this will be the Superman sequel and not a Superman/Batman collabo film, correct? It was a little vague.

I guess this is cool. I'm not blown away by Zack Snyder, but Man of Steel was pretty good and his visuals are always pretty solid. A lot of MOS's strength was its casting so if they can nail the new Batman that will go a long way. I kind of wish Goyer wasn't writing this. He is overrated imho. I

I think he has gotten a lot of mileage out of his association with Nolan's Batman films. His personal filmography is nothing to really write home about. I like Dark City as much as the next guy but that's kind of it.

Putting your two tent-pole characters in the hands of two pretty mediocre artists is a risky proposition. If the fanboy hordes don't like their interpretation there is a lot of money to be lost.

Why does WB insist on hiring zack snyder for everything? These two characters deserve better than this. With Snyder at the helm this will go from most anticipated movie ever to a mediocre Transformers style forgettable blockbuster. Hire a smart writer and an exciting director. Shit, I'd rather have the Wachowskis over Snyder. At least they did extremely well with the first Matrix whereas Snyder's only good movie is 300 and its not for its "geniius: story, its copying and pasting the graphic

David S Goyer is a shitty writer???

I have a suggestion, why don't one of you guys write a Batman/Superman movie and submit it to Warner Bros.? Oh, you won't? That's because you guys all talk the talk but can't walk the walk. None of you will ever have a fraction of the success Goyer has had. I guess Christopher Nolan doesn't know what good writing is according to you guys. So write a better movie or STFU.

That they wouldn't accept any of our script submissions without representation probably factors into it as well.

If success is your barometer of quality, Brett Ratner, Renny Harlin and Paul W.S. Anderson have all had a good deal of success. I guess that makes them geniuses as well?

Someone here could write a brilliant script and send it in, and it would still never get made. Not only does no one here have name recognition, but David Goyer is already under contract to write the script.

But none of that matters. Why? Because you don't need to write a successful screenplay to see how shitty Goyer writes. In fact, success has literally no bearing on quality. Some of the shittiest films have made many millions of dollars (this goes for music, TV and books, too.)

And Christopher Nolan does know good writing. That's why Goyer was booted off of the two sequels and Nolan's brother was brought it. Goyer was only credited for "story" (because he helped write the first one,) and even Goyer has said that he had little input.

I didn't say he was a genius and I respect Ratner and Anderson. You are way off base. I can criticize the paintings of Picasso without thinking myself a better painter than him. People are entitled to an opinion and to express it. This isn't the interwebs of the people's republic. By your estimation the only people that ever have any right to express an opinion of displeasure or disinterest are those more successful than the person they criticize, and that is wrongheaded in so many ways. Popularity does not equate to quality. The Smurfs is not a better film

Ratner and Anderson would need a ladder to stand on in order to reach Goyer's ass so they could kiss it. And I don't even think he is that great. They are just fucking awful. You should demand more for your entertainment dollar.

I never said a movie was better because it sold more tickets. You have every right to criticize a movie because you don't like it. I'm talking about respecting the directors or writers who made the movie (terrible or not) because they probably spent a huge chunk of their lives to bring us their vision. If you actually KNEW what it took to make a movie and made it only to have people attack YOU personally you'd be singing a different tune. I work in Hollywood, I've been on sets so I know.

Just because people don't share your opinion, doesn't mean you have to throw a fit. Besides, by your logic, nobody who can pen a producible film is fit to judge a script for good, or ill. Which means you are in no position to deride - or praise - Goyer's work. Which means JoBlo should just go ahead and remove the comments feature from this site.

Ok, first unless Snyder is a dog and he was born a few months before his remake of Dawn of the Dead, then yes, he spends a good chunk of his life on making a movie. But if he's got a 85 year average life span, then 14 months is nothing, absolutely nothing compared to the whole. So don't give that huge chunk of life garbage.

second, WBs never takes spec scripts of big franchise properties. I doesn't matter if you are represented or not. When they want to launch or continue a franchise they

second, WBs never takes spec scripts of big franchise properties. I doesn't matter if you are represented or not. When they want to launch or continue a franchise they contact the writers and directors they are interested in and go. The dark knight trilogy was started through that route. Roboinov was moulding Nolan and Snyder at the same time and when WB said "lets keep looking to make a new batman", Roboinov wentto his protégé Nolan who later came back with that Tumbler model and WB was so blown away by this anti batman concept that they went for it. As a result we get three "Batman" movies that not only ignore much of but tells us that all the awesome things about Batman that we loved are dumb and he's really just a watered down James Bond with throat cancer in black body armor.

And finally Nolan doesn't know what good writing is. He doesn't even know what editing is. He got lucky with one film, and that's more because Heath Ledger died a year after filming it (and people wanted to see the supposed but not actually true last performance of Ledger in an iconic villain role). That death made The Dark Knight a financial power house and thusly made Nolan.

And really if you think he's so good, then why was The Dark Knight Rises just as bad (for crying out loud, Batman had to become Batman TWICE in that 3 hour thing that wishes it was a movie), long and pointless? Why was Inception nothing but long exposition in addition to getting everything science knows about dreams and how they work entirely wrong?

Also Goyer is a shitty writer, look at all of his movies that he's written you can use rottentomatoes.com as a guide even, nothing he's written by himself is good. Besides the batman movies, he has dark city and he was only one of 3 writers on that. So he's successful in the fact that he knows how to ride coat tails all the way to the bank.

I don't disagree with you, RO84. The Nolan Bat films are just not that good. Like you, I think the trilogy got a lot of traction out of a performance for the ages by Ledger. I don't think it was just his death. The performance was just that good. The second movie was also the most well written and cogent of all three films. Dark Knight Rises is, I'm sorry, pretty awful. It just is.

Bale's Batman is just as uninteresting and weak as he has been in the other films. That voice is just so

Bale's Batman is just as uninteresting and weak as he has been in the other films. That voice is just so corny. Why did they let him do that? Plus the mask cuts off his breathing and makes him sound like he has a speech impediment. Both Bane and Catwoman were good additions, but Batman comes off as a giant pussy throughout the whole trilogy. You never get a sense of him as all that dangerous or capable; the peak of humanity's abilities. As a film series none of it connects to any of the rest of it in any meaningful or interesting way. It is three basically standalone films with only the vaguest sense of connection to one another. While I understand that you couldn't bring the Joker back, you don't even mention him or his place in the story? I suppose it doesn't matter because the third film destroys any gravity or import the second film had anyway.

The film series leads us to believe that Batman was Batman for about two flippin' weeks. He spent all those years abroad training, then he comes home, becomes Batman and takes on the League of Shadows. The end of Batman Begins leads directly to his confrontation with the Joker. After this he stops being Batman completely for years until Bane comes along. So, why is he so hobbled and crippled? He has barely been Batman! Granted he spent a lot of that time getting his ass kicked, despite his years of training and advanced gadgetry, but again the timeline just isn't that long. And then the ending of TDKR spits right in the face of all Batman fans by having Bruce give up his crime-fighting life to settle down with Catwoman and turning the Bat mantle over to pseudo Robin. What? What the fuck? Is there anything in the character of the comic book Bruce Wayne/ Batman that would allow him to hang it all up for domestic bliss? Does he just stop being obsessed? Isn't that counter-intuitive to the notion of obsession? Whatever, dude. It sucks. Hard.

Kryptonite ... 2/2

The way I would like the movie to end would be ... Batman picks up a stray shard and pockets it, and Superman pretends to not notice. Months later. Clark shows up to "interview" Wayne on his new satellite network. Clark starts showing articles he has collected about extraordinary people around the world (good and bad). Wayne states that he is aware and is developing contingencies. Clark looks at him and says "even me?", and Wayne says nothing. Clark light heatedly goes I know guns are not your

Wayne smirks and says "I figured you noticed ... since we are laying our cards on the table, how about we go off the record." Wayne shows an off book project with initials J.L.A. and a Wayne-STAR Labs govt venture to build an Ultra Super Max detention center to house extremely dangerous individuals.

Kryptonite ...

Two things. First Public Enemies where they fight the entire DC catalog was awesome. They have such drastic style differences, it is a joy watching them irk each other. Second, I would bet my shirt that Kryptonite will be discovered and used in this movie. Most of it will get destroyed, but a sliver will be either kept or given to Batman.

I just hope they keep Justice League characters out of future Batman solo movies, aside from some post-credit or throwaway scene. Batman and Superman is definitely better than a full JL movie though, at least until some other characters (WW, Flash, etc) are introduced.

I respectfully disagree. I think there have been enough stand alone Batman films with no reference or integration whatsoever to the larger DC universe. I think it is time to see what it is like, cinematically speaking, to see how the character operates in that world. It would just be a more interesting change of pace in my opinion.

It's superheroes for fucks sake) or Not just Jonah Nolan but anyone else. Just not David. Fuck.

I'm lovin' this news!

MOS was a great movie, and while there a few bugs to work out with the story, Zack is a great director for the super hero genre movie-going public.
The only issue I have, and I expect to have a lot of thumb downs with my next statement, is Batman! Personally, Christian Bale portrayed BW/Batman in a very"realistic" light as a man who is driven by his parents death, and the vigilantic stance against the criminal underworld. It's just my two cents, and yes, I know Chris N said he was done

I see a movie-going audience split over putting someone else under the cowl.

With that being said: I'm going to fap over this news again....lol.

Adam West has been the best batman on screen, they should get him to play him again. Or dud fanboys could get used to the fact that roles have changed actors all the time and the picture usually doesn't suffer sometimes it is improved (ruffalo in avengers??). Bale is not coming back and if he did, it would make tdkr pointless. Which is a shame because that ending wrapped that story up so nicely.

No way Bale is back. He has personally closed that door, locked it, dynamited it and then ran it over with a bulldozer. He has gone out of his way to say so. I guess everyone has a price but I imagine his would be too high to return to this role to make any financial sense.

Also, as others have said, it would fucking destroy the Nolan ending. I honestly don't like Dark Knight Rises much and think the ending is pretty awful, but it would be even worse to totally reverse course and act like

While I respect that the Nolan films had a neat ending to the DK storyline, why can't it be carried on with Bale, coming back, with a story that forces him to don the cowl again....it's not messing up the DK storyline, and it would be a new chapter with a new storyline. I don't think that Bale will come back, but I do think that the continuity will be messed up if they keep Cavill and not Bale. Just my two cents.

I have a thought on the way TDKR ended: with Alfred seeing Bruce, and nodding to him, doesn't that leave the door open for Bale returning? The trilogy was wrapped up neatly (you're right LickMyLovePump) but I think there might be more to the story if Bruce is alive at the end. The ending almost implies that the Batman story can carry on, and not with that "Robin" BS at the end....that part of the movie I had a hard time swallowing.

Just a comment to DoB: I don't think that
